    Default Drafting Review and Advice

Hey just had my 1 year H2H draft. Feel free to comment on bad/good picks per round, weak spots on my roster, and advice moving ahead. Looking at my roster, my defense looks particularly mediocre/weak.

1 year H2H daily starts, 14 teams. Categories:

G, A, PPP, +/-, PIM, GWG, SOG, HIT
    W, GAA, SV, SV%, SO

1 (6). N. MacKinnon - Felt like the best pick at 6th overall
2 (23). P. Kessel - Burns went right before me and I had to choose between EK or Kessel. I feel Kessel will provide more than EK despite wanting an elite D
3 (34). F. Andersen - Top 3 D were gone. Could have taken Gaudreau here but goalies were going fast and more went after this pick so I secured my #1 goalie here
4 (51). V. Trocheck - Owned this guy last year and loved it. I think he'll flirt with 70pt and is fantastic for SOG and Hits
5 (62). R. Rakell - Nothing special here. Needed a LW and took Rakell
6 (79). S. Aho - Wanted to get Klingberg as my first D but he went earlier this round and didn't like the next best D
7 (90). B. Schenn - Owned Schenn last year and it was great. Maybe won't do quite as well but I expect near 70pt and he's quite well rounded for my categories
8 (107). A. Raanta -Unsure about this. I feel I may have overreached here but looking at the draft results there isn't a single goalie I would be happy with after this pick
9 (118). J.T. Miller - Please play on that first line
    10 (135). K. Yandle - Needed a D so I started here
    11 (146). K. Palmieri - I like this guy
12 (163). D. Brown - Needed to focus more on hits
13 (174). E. Lindholm - Please play on first line
14 (191). J. Gardiner - Not many options around this time
15 (202). M. Lucic - Had him last year and hated it. Took him much later this year for hits
    16 (219). J. Bailey - Kinda like this pick
    17 (230). N. Hanifin - Just another D
    18 (247). S. Theodore - Please sign
    19 (258). S. Darling - We'll see how this goes
    20 (275). T. Pearson - May not keep

    C: MacKinnon, Trocheck, Schenn
LW: Rakell, Aho, JT Miller (why does yahoo list him as RW?)
    RW: Kessel, Bailey, Palmieri
    D: Yandle, Gardiner, Hanifin, Theodore
    G: Andersen, Raanta
    Util: Brown
    BN: Lindholm, Lucic, Pearson, Darling

I like a lot of your picks later on. Miller, Rakell, Aho are underrated guys who will have solid totals. Also like Handle and Gardiner as underrated but solid D-men.
I'm more worried about your goalies. Andersen is solid and Raanta has OK peripherals when he plays but has injury concerns. I think you'll be OK in saves and have some rough weeks with peripherals. I think you'll be in good shape this season.

I think you did quite well for 14 team league. Goalies, PIM and hits will be your question marks, but you should crush in the scoring categories.

    Thanks.

Every year I say I'll take a skater in that 3rd round but once that goalie run starts in the second round I take my goalie in the 3rd. I can definitely see myself having bad weeks with goalie peripherals but hopefully I can get lucky when it matters.

I'll keep an eye on my goalies and maybe I can upgrade Raanta at some point this season.

I would have preferred a more multicat defenseman but I like a lot of your forwards!

Agreed. I may drop one of Hanifin or Theodore for a defender that hits and gets PIM because none of my defenders accomplish that for me.
