Crosby trade thoughts.

I put it out there that Crosby was for sale. I was offered Panarin/1st overall for Crosby/40th overall. That 1st will be Marchand in our redraft, plus I still own my 10th overall, which I hope to be one of Doughty, Subban, Trocheck, Pastrnak...to name a few. Marchand will probably replace Crosby as my 4th keeper at years end.

I dunno... in a keep 4 it's not bad, but not as awesome as it first looks when you factor in who that #40 player is. I have to assume that Crosby was a huge part of your back-to-back championships. I am guessing that 40OA get you a Max Pacioretty/ Mark Stone / Jeff Carter / Viktor Arvison type player.

As far as I'm concerned you have the top 4 possible keepers. Why dilute them if you can win with them?

As Moses said, you have to look at it as a 2 for 2 trade and evaluate it that way, keeping in mind who your top 4 would be for keepers next year.

Next year, Panarin is dropped and Crosby is replaced by Marchand as a keeper. It definitely a very short-term move.

Drafting 10th in a straight draft is extremely difficult. I've finished top 2 or 3 for the past 5 years and every year I've had to be creative to get an earlier first rounder just to compete. Being able to add Marchand/Panarin and possibly grab one of Doughty, Subban, Schenn, Trocheck, Pasta, Scheilfele, Kopitar, Landeskog, Simmonds, Rackell, Gibson, Rinne at #10 is very tempting. Yes It might be short term, but the gap between Marchand and Crosby has narrowed significantly over the years. With the additions of hits and BS this season, Doughty and Subban jump up the rankings. This is a very difficult decision moving one of the top 5 fantasy players and I'm very much on the fence. And I'm also thinking position here, PPG wingers are harder to find then centers in our redraft.

So I never did get the trade completed in time...he had cold feet. However, not only did I grab Doughty at #10, I was also able to grab Trocheck at #20. Thanks in part to Yahoo's ranking system I had a feeling he'd be there. The downside is, I planned on grabbing a goalie with that pick, but could not pass on him, so I missed the run and the chance at a tier 1 tender. Overall my draft went well, I think, considering it's my first banger league.

I would be looking for a 3rd goalie needing min-4 starts. Smith's an IR concern. Raanta missed decent amount of time last year as well. in a 10tm league, gotta think there are some good options on the board to add for depth.

Yeah, I'm in a difficult position, very slim pickings. Here's the best of what's left.....
Lehner, Reimer, Mrazek, Saros, Anderson.

I would expect a 50-50 split with Griess to start (based on Griess' contract.

Saros should get 1 start per week - min, plus second half of b2b's - limit Rinne's load a bit. Might get a few less starts out of him, but you'll get quality starts.

I disagree with this statement lucafen4. Greiss is a holdover contract from the previous regime. Lehner is 100% the horse the new management brought in. Greiss's contract will not factor in how many starts he gets. Greiss's number of games played will be a direct result of how well Lehner does.
