This thread is created to enable managers (and even some non-managers) to chat about the league in general, the draft, teams and even smack talk.

The one request is that any league questions/issues remain on the league board.

    Yahoo, One-year, Rotisserie
Daily lineups, Weekly FAAB w/ Continual rolling list tiebreak

Sweet, 3rd pick in the draft. Can't remember last time I had a high pick.

I?m having a real hard time trying to target my first two selections at 9 and 16. Roto is a completely different animal. This is going to be a real challenge!

Have never had McDavid in a pool, but thinking Ovi may be a better choice in this setup. Going to be having a tough choice to make.

    League champ in 2013, 2015, 2018, 2020 and 2022.

Top 8 forwards, 5 dmen and 2 goalies count.

We keep 15 players (any position) plus two rookies.

Forwards: Panarin, Ovechkin, Kopitar, Stamkos, Tuch, Rust, Marchessault, Pavelski, Miller, Bertuzzi, Stone, Kakko, Brown, Stankoven, Kovalenko

Ha, yes, that's a good idea. It's a completely different beast from regular points-only leagues.

I've been mostly doing roto leagues the past few years, so FWIW, here's a few things I learned the hard way:
    1. Your total stats in a single category is irrelevant. It's your rank in that category that matters. Beating the 2nd place team in the Goals category by 1 goal is the same as beating him by 1000 goals. In both cases you get 1 more point in your total team points than the 2nd place team. If you're dominating in one category, then you should trade some of that strength to shore up any weak stats.
    2. You need to try to compete in almost all categories---not win every category, just do well enough. In some roto leagues, you can get away with ignoring a category or two completely, but you just need to make sure you're stronger in the remaining cats. In one of my leagues last year, the winner was in the bottom half in 2 of 9 categories, but was top stat getter in 4 of them. And in the same league, a manager who placed 3rd in every category would have won. BUT! This isn't always true! It depends on how good all the managers are in the league. In my league, we're all fairly even, so the winning total is lower in general as competition within each scoring category is tight. But if you have a few weak managers, then the remaining managers--on average--will have better team totals, so you may not be able to get away with only averaging 3rd in each category.
    3. Well-rounded players are worth more (which is kinda obvious).

Same here. Let's learn by doing!

Hopefully I'll be able to draft with y'all tonight but my daughter is sick so I may have to hope my pre-ranking does me right. Or I'll just neglect her, we'll see how the night goes.

    Hey all,

Someone in the Wales noticed that the draft pick clock is not showing on the settings page.

I can confirm that it's 1 minute. No idea why it's not showing on the settings page, but it shows when I go into commish tools.

Yahoo's pre-rank is ugly this year. I highly recommend pre-ranking. Less than 12 hours until the draft clock starts. 😁

I won?t have time to prerank but unless some unforeseen circumstances arise, I?ll be in the draft room 30 minutes early and start setting my queue.

Am I the only one who isn?t even close to being satisfied with their roster? This was the worst draft I had all draft season without question. I completely loaded up on Centres and top end D early on and neglected both wings and goalies, and man it shows. I dug myself such a big whole in both LW/RW that I just started drafting dual eligiable wingers to quickly fill holes, overlooking strictly LW or RW without dual eligibility. As each round passed I also thought I could wait off on taking the next best available goalie and that landed me Allen as my number one goalie. Goalies went a lot earlier and quicker than I anticipated. With my last four picks I said screw it and threw darts at the board taking four rookies and hoping for break outs. Man, I havework to do.

I wasn't too pleased either. My draft strategy went out the window quickly. My plan was to take Ovi first overall, and then one of either Karlsson or Burns (hopefully both) with my next two picks. But they were both gone. I think I had seven players in my queue with nine picks before my second-round pick, and they all went in the next eight picks, leaving me scrambling. That happened quite a few times.

I purposefully waited until the 4th-5th round for goalies since we only count three categories for them, but I wanted guys who would play a lot of games since wins and saves are two of the categories, so I grabbed Price and Talbot at that spot. Both should start 60-65 games if healthy.

My biggest issue was waiting on defense, so I would up having to draft guys like Chabot, Gudas, Keith and Weber.
