Default Keeper Difficulties - Pavelski OR Forsberg OR...

    Hi All,

It's that time of year - making the tough call on who to keep on my team. I can keep 4 players, but MAX 2 players from the same position. Luckily I have a couple C/Ws so it doesn't affect me much. Here are the options:

    STATS: G, A, P, PPP, SOG, FOW, HITS, BLKS | W, SVS, GAA, SV%

    N. Mackinnon (C)
    J. Benn (C/W)
    F. Forsberg (W)
    J. Pavelski (C/W)
    R. O'Reilly (C)
    J. Huberdeau (W)

    O. Ekman-Larsson (D)
    J. Klingberg (D)

    A. Vasilevskiy (G)

The only guy I HAVE to keep is Vasilevskiy, as he's my only viable option on my team (and a good one at that). Also note my league is fairly multi-cat.

Any help, insight, comments greatly appreciated. Gonna make it rain with REP too.

    Cheers!

PS. Don't mind my signature - those are just placeholder keepers. Open to changing it up if convinced otherwise.

Hard to let go of such a top end D man, but if this caliber of D is available in your redraft, I think Pavs is your guy. Close between him and Forsberg. The only things that makes me lean Pavs are the acquisition of Karlsson and his FOW from the wing.

Pavs has the added value in this format of the face-off wins from the wing and is also one of the stronger forward contributors to blocks - that power play should be lights out this year.

MacK, Benn, and Vas for sure. For the last spot it's probably Pavs because although Klingberg is great there will be only 12 D at most who are kept, so you will have decent options there.

yeah I gotta say Mack, Benn, Vasilevskiy are the must-keeps at C, LW, G. For the last spot it's obviously between Pavelski, Forsberg, or Klingberg. I could see Forsberg as a legit RW option if you believe in his scoring upside, but I don't think you should keep Klingberg given the presence of hits and faceoffs giving a guy like Pavelski such value from the RW spot. As Rizzee said, there won't be a ton of Dmen kept so you shouldn't worry about filling out there via the draft. You'll have a head start over most GMs at basically every other position: C, LW, RW, G.

    Mack, Benn, Pavelski, Vas

In the alternative, I could see an argument for keeping Klingberg above Vasilevskiy. If you think you can pick up average to above average goaltending in your draft, this is a legit strategy.

Yes, Pavelski on the SJ powerplay is SO intriguing, but I do love Forsberg's offensive upside, and especially his team. Tough call for sure, one I'm not convinced of either...

Yah I can't wait to see what this SJ PP looks like, wow. It's fairly lethal as it is, throw a guy like Karlsson in the mix and it could be deadly. Pavs could definitely reaps the rewards standing in front of the net as he does so well.
