McAvoy & Montour are likely a push for points. in 18/19 I'll take Mantha 10/10 over Necas for production. then you would have to give up potentially a top 3 pick? You've read about Jack Hughes right? You need to read through on the other 4 projected to go in the top 5. This is a legit elite forward draft coming up. Keep what you have - and KEEP THAT PICK, especially if it's going to be top 3. That pick has potential to be gold - if you're in a rebuild, selling it is the worst decision you can make all year.

What about offering Konecny and Montour with a 3rd pick? Love McAvoy and really like Necas' upside with guys like Svech, Aho and Teravainen around him.

Even with Konecny you're offering more proven player for more of a lottery ticket. If you could downgrade your forward to more of a prospect - that would be easier to swallow. So far all we have with Necas is unproven high end potential. If Konecny sticks with Giroux & Couturier then making this deal might feel like a bit of a kick in the junk for 2yrs. The one concern I have with McAvoy is his 77 shots last year in 63gp. Even if he doubles those, he's less than 2 per game. still not near elite offensive D levels.

Basically, every scenario you're tossing out - best case for you - you lose the deal for 2 years, until Necas surpasses your players current levels. when you start trading youth for younger youth you run the risk of getting into a never ending cycle of rebuilding. I'd be wary of pursuing this deal just to own Necas & McAvoy.

Necas has played how many seasons? I won't argue he'll be good, perhaps great, but so will DeBrincat - it's a step backwards to move a rookie already showing legit chops for a rookie people hope will show similar chops this upcoming season. -- see my last post about rebuilding a rebuild.

its nothign to do with rebuild, McAvoy gives solid value this year...this is much better value to on McAvoy Necas side...

I'm going bird in hand, more secure assets here. Lots of hype on Necas, but that' it. McAvoy lots of value, no shots, 2nd PP - Montour shoots more PP1. I really like Necas & McAvoy, but giving up existing production for expected production is not always the wisest move. Not to mention if Necas performs as well this year as Strome or Puljujarvi in draft year +2... that's a real possibility as well.
