Dahlin vs Forwards in H2H multi-cat

12 team H2H multi-cat: Goals, Assists, Points, +/-, PowerPlay Points, Shorthanded Points, Hits, and GWG

We have to start 9 F and 4 D with 2 UTIL with no bonus scoring for Dmen. I have the choice of Dahlin, Borgstrom, Thomas, Necas, Sikura. Is it crazy not to take Dahlin? I'm just not sure with this format if taking a Dman really makes sense, but then again he's basically rated #1 everywhere so I'm not sure. Typically I stack my forward spots for the most scoring I can get then use D slots for hits.

What does the rest of your roster look like? If Dahlin is available, why isn't Svechnikov or Zadina? Do you have a minors option in your league?

I don't know if this is a keeper or a 1 year league. I certainly wouldn't take a D in a 1 year league.

And like Axe says, without knowing your rosters, number of keepers, it's impossible to give you an informed answer.

My bad, can't believe I didn't include some of that vital info. This is a keeper/contract league, we keep like 22 this year i think, so yeah contract values do come into play but its not really pertinent to this issue. Also we have a minor league where we can keep up to 20 prospects. Below is my current team. We still have a FA auction where I will be able to fill out my roster.

I have the 3rd pick so Svechnikov or Zadina are already off the board, leaving me with Dahlin if I want. Thanks for the input.

I would definitely draft Dahlin here. If you are keeping DeAngelo, you will need the help on D more than forward.

Yeah I'm keeping DeAngelo for now, mostly because ive had him so long. I know he's trending towards bust, especially with how the Rangers use him, but I'm still holding out a little hope.

Like I said, I definitely plan on adding some Dmen in our free agent auction so it's not crucial that Dahlin contributes this year.
