Default Brent Burns - outlook post Karlsson trade

Does anyone have any comments / ideas about how the Karlsson trade may affect Burns for this coming year?

I am legitimately concerned this will mean fewer shots for him and inevitably fewer points, but I can't find anyone with a similar opinion.
    Thoughts?

I wouldnt be. Theyll be on different pairings and deployed fairly evenly. The concern should be the third pairing as they wont get much for playing time. That PP is going to be sick, more points, more shots, more everything. I can't see how this would be bad for Burns. It'll just make the Sharks that much more potent.

Both are right handed shots. Burns on one pairing, EK on the other. Not sure how the PP will work.
In bulk though, I don't see Burns tailing off much from his normal output. Maybe small negative impact? But not much if any.

I would expect SJ PP1 to look like: 1-3-1

Pavelski in front - best tipper in the league IMO.

For a moment I was wondering why Evander Kane was on the power play, and Erik Karsson wasn't. I agree they will likely both be on the PP a lot.

Personally I'm planning for a slight decrease in shot totals, and wouldn't be surprised to see a small drop in points too. Maybe more like 60-65-ish as opposed to 65-70+. Regardless that's still high end production for a D man and he's probably still knocking on the door of 300 SOG.

There's also been talk of him moving back to wing but I wouldn't know how good of a possibility that is.

Burns is an absolute beast whose snapshot is harder than the majority of dmen slap shots, Karlsson is the best offensive dman in the world, maybe a slight drop in points for each but there is just as good a chance that they each put up career best totals - and in multicat, they?ll likely be more valuable, very high shot totals and plus minus i?d imagine. And PPPs of course - That PP1 will be generational in how it will produce.

I own Burns and when the trade was announced I immediately thought of the San Jose PP situation. Considering they are both right handed shots I figured the hot hand would get PP1 minutes with the other on PP2, but I like this much, much more.

I wouldn't be worried about either Karlsson or Burns thriving in this new environment. There are plenty of offensively talented forwards to go around in San Jose. Each should see a reduction in their overall 5v5 ice time, but that PP1 should be lethal as can be, and I would expect that to more than make up the difference.

For what it's worth - and it may just be a grain of salt - but Pronger and Niedermayer both increased their production from the previous year in the 06-07 season when they were united in Anaheim. They were kept on separate pairings at 5 on 5...but correct me if I'm wrong but they were both on PP1? Anyways, they both basically played the game without the other and the team just dominated at 5 on 5.
