With Karlsson moving to a team that has quality depth at forward, and now likely anchoring a PP1 that should boast Couture, Pavelski, Thornton, and Burns, I think he's easily a top-5 fantasy asset at any position right now. You're basically deciding between a 70-point Dman and an 80-point Center. Assuming you have standard positions, starting C, LW, RW, and D, Karlsson's value relative to other Dmen is much higher than Seguin's value relative to other forwards (especially centers).

I love me some Seguin, but Karlsson could break the scale this season. Even with a downgrade in 5v5 TOI, he will have real exposure to elite scoring forwards and what looks on paper like a dynamite PP1. It wouldn't shock me if Karlsson ends up with more points than Seguin.

Well said and I agree. Love Seguin but Karlsson is the McDavid of d men until proven otherwise.

You can make an argument for both sides. I like this trade but I'd also like to keep Karlsson. The trade is fresh in everyone's mind, you can get a piece added on to Seguin or throw Karlsson's name out there and see what else is offered from other teams.
