Not even! He was a prospect, and one that had only just started showing what he could do when they traded him. he only had 36 starts spread over 4 seasons at that point. Frankly I think people also overlook that his numbers were only stellar for 3 seasons in Tampa. There's no doubt a lot of reasons for it but he's been kinda average since those 3 seasons where he really broke into the league as a starter

Bergevin's trades involving Drouin and Domi have worked out well. You have to give him credit for that. I thought hiring Claude Julien was a mistake but that has worked out too. Price bouncing back has been a huge plus as well.

I still think he's a mid to lower level GM in the NHL. Having the worlds best goalies can make a lot of mistakes go away pretty quickly, especially since Price has seemed to regain his form this year. Getting Weber back is huge too. That being said, Price is still playing behind one of the league worst D corp IMO and until Kotkaniemi can mature, they still don't have a true 1C. Some are filling that role admirably, but they still lack it.

I've said this many times. every NHL GM will win some deals and lose some deals. Bergevin is no different.

yes, EVERY GM. Even Chiarelli made some good moves in his time in Edmonton. More bad, but there some good ones too.
