Okay, I need to cut one of my 6 defensemen. Salary cap in play. I need your help (Keeper league)

The title says it all. 6 defensement, I need to cut one.

I finished second last year, and third the year before that, I have a good team, but the first team is a little bit ahead of me. So I guess I'm in a win-now mode.

Who would you cut? I need to free around 4-5 M$. It's a point-only league, although defensemen's points are worth 1.5x times as much as forwards. So a 40 pts def is equal to a 60 pts forward.

Here they are:

Kevin Shattenkirk: 6,650,000$
Keith Yandle: 6,350,000$
Jacob Trouba: 5,500,000$
John Klingberg: 4,250,000$
Oscar Klefbom: 4,167,000$
Jake Muzzin: 4,000,000$

(I love Klingberg's contract!)

I'm leaning against Trouba, since he can't have the icetime right now, and his next contract might be big.
Or Klefbom, but I want to give him at least one more year.

I think Trouba or Klefbom are the least likely to be worth their contracts this year, and Trouba is unlikely to be a value next year. I'd lean towards cutting him - or possibly trading him.

I'd definitely want a young cheap defender on that team with offensive upside.

You are right that I need youth. I traded a draft pick last year, so I only have 2 this year, but if Montour is available when I pick, it might be my choice.
Plus, I moved to Orange County this year, I could watch him live a few times!

For now , I’ll say Trouba too. The Jets depth at D really don’t help him. At 5,5 m, he doesn’t give you enough.

Really? I would say Klefbom has it the easiest of the guys there not named Klingberg and Muzzin to be able to play up to his contract.
I would be okay parting with Shattenkirk.

Trouba for me. I can't see him get much more than 40 pts.

I don't think Klefbom will score much more than 40 pts either, but at least he is cheaper.

I am getting rid of Shattenkirk out of those personally, way to much of a risk at that price tag. Especially when it comes to his recent health. Yes trouba is pricey but you know u will get 30-35 Pts...Kling and Klef will almost feel like steals at their prices.
