Default Seguin or Stamkos - Will Rep

For the league below - currently holding Stamkos and have been offered a straight-up trade for Seguin - take it or leave it?

    Yahoo! Limited Keeper (Keep 1C, 1LW, 1RW, 1D, 1G annually)
    Keeper Centre: Stamkos (or Sequin?)
    Keeper Right Wing: Pasternak
    Keeper Left Wing: Giroux
    Keeper Defense: Ghost
    Keeper Goalie: Rask
Skater Stats: G, A, P, +/-, PPP, PIMS, SOG, FOW, Hits, BKS

I'd keep Stamkos here, just for the sheer power that is Tampa. I see Stamkos outproducing Seguin in every aspect. Seguin will also be dealing with a new coach that is head set on shaking things up and is currently negotiating his contract, too many distractions for my liking.
11 team keeper league with salary cap (points only)

    MY TEAM (start 13F, 6D, 1G):
    FWDS: N. Kucherov, S. Stamkos, R. O’Reilly, J. Hughes, W. Karlsson, P. Kessel, B. Point, F. Vatrano, E. Pettersen, R. Rakell, C. Keller, N. Niederreiter, K. Labanc

    DEF: J. Trouba, J. Morrissey, T. Krug, F. Hronek, S. Jones, D. Nurse
    GOALIE: A. Vasilevskiy
    BENCH: V. Mete, S. Niku, R. Andersson, T. Hirose, C. Glass, T. Jurco, C. McElhinney
NOTES: We can only send players down if they get injured, otherwise they pass through waivers and we lose them for nothing + we have to pay half their cap.

This largely depends on how much you believe in the 'contract year' phenomenon. If Seguin is in a contract year... could he put up 100 points?

I think Stamkos is the safer bet here... but there is some benefits to keeping Seguin... contract year and his age are the two big ones.

Im leaning Stamkos. He is the safer bet on a team that will continue to dominate the division and potentially the league.

I?d take Seguin here without question as a fellow Stamkos owner - especially given your categories.

For these cats (G, A, P, +/-, PPP,SOG) it?s a wash - give the goals edge to Seguin given it looks like Stammer is turning into more of a distributor w/ a 30G+ upside. Assists edge goes to Stammer. +/- = unpredidictable, PPP is close.

PIMS - neither player is significantly more penalized than the other

Here?s the plus for Seguin: FW - will likely win at least 300+ more faceoffs than Stamkos. Stammer is not great at the dot. Hits - Seguin will definitely out hit Stamkos. Thus, you get a nice multi-cat bump while obtaining the better ?goal scorer?.

Not that I don?t believe Stammer could put up 45 goals with that shot and talent- I just see his game evolving and with Kucherov scoring like he has been, Stammer can take it a bit easier and be the set up guy rather than the primary scoring threat. Should make staying healthy easier as well.

Lastly, while I feel the injury days may be behind Stammer - there?s no promises ? he has the history of injury issues while Seguin is mainly a healthy player. Seguin is also a tad younger if I remember right so you?d get an additional ?Prime? year out of him.

With those categories I'd keep Stamkos, more likely to contribute across the board, but it's close.

Seguin for me. Other than his shortened 2016-17 season and the first 20 games of 2017-18, Stamkos has been a 70 point player since his first major injury, plus he's not a young up and comer anymore. I also think that the categories favor Seguin in general. As noted in my cage match on Seguin last week, he's had 24+ PPPts and 275+ SOG in each of the last five seasons - only Ovi has also done that more than once.

These are great points, and combined with the hits advantage (I think Seguin is underrated there), I'm going to change my vote to Seguin.

I own Seguin and I'd turn down a trade for Stammer. Tyler is younger, healthier, and a UFA this year.

Sorry ross10019. Once you make a choice you have to die on that hill. No changzies. Nope. You are not allowed to listen to others and be swayed by their opinions. I can see that you are new here so you will be let off with just a friendly warning.

Just wondering if the posters suggesting Seguin is more of a multicat player realize the Stamkos has averaged 90 hits and 66 pims per 82 games over his career while Seguin is 55 hits and 25 pims per 82. Seguin does have a solid edge in shots and last year he had a big FO win advantage but typically they finish the season with similar FOW totals.

Stamkos also plays on a deeper team and would be more likely to handle injuries to line mates or roster shuffling better than Seguin.

Both are skilled superstar players and the two year age difference is minor as far far as I?m concerned.

It is close and I?d love to have either on my team but I?d recommend leaning towards Stammer.
