The second year, had bidding wars for rookies which we won't be doing again, so Barzal and Dubois are around $5M each. My Cap situation is tight for this season with a lot coming off the books for next, especially with the expansion. My team is a top 3 team in the league.

Here's the offer I received: Necas + Chytil for Dubois or Barzal. I like the idea, especially with so many Carolina fans in the league. Chytil and Necas will be cheap for a long time and could help me with FA bidding space and paying up for other players coming off ELCs. Thoughts?

If you could get Barzal (roto ranking, keeper ranking) for Necas + Chytil, I think think the Barzal side would come out on top.

Darn, being the owner of Barzal/Dubois I'm a bit torn. I've been thinking of it as Necas and Chytil both are likely to end up #1Cs this or next season and still have a few seasons on ELC before they get to insane levels of cap hit. Barzal and Dubois already cost a lot and will only go up, I'll have to plan out my cap a bit more to see how much of a factor it will really play.

How much does Necas cost?

Pretty much everyone else is their current AAV in the NHL. Necas was a free agent and someone paid $2.1 for him (lots of Carolina fans), Chytil is 975K.

I don't like that deal for you. You're giving up certainty for little cap relief. Saving 1.6M to downgrade from Barzal or Dubois isn't worth it for prospects that may or may not pan out. Don't you have somebody you can just cut to save that much?
