Dumping Price

I got a GM who made me an offer for SCarey:

Rask 7, Dumba 6, Bjorkstand 2.5, and Kase 2.6

for Price 10.5, karlsson (6.5 this year, then goes to waiver pick), Sergechev 1.7, Debrincat .9

Im pretty desperate to unload Price and I think this is interesting....

What do you think of this deal? It feels not that far off. Of course Price will get back to being his old self once he's off my team.

I remember this team, you had way too much tied up in goaltending... As you are losing Karlsson anyway, this isn't all that far off. However, this offer does not fit what your team needs.

I think you are blinded by your leaf-nation glasses. You are giving up arguably the best goalie in the world and the best defenceman in the world in exchange for $1.5M in cap savings. This will still leave you with cap issues, and you degraded your team. Looking at your signature (and admittedly do not have the abacus out) I would rather outright drop Lundqvist (and Ekholm) and solve you cap issues that way.

Talbot/Price/Niemi in a 2G league is good. Maybe find a another much cheaper goalie when onecomes available.

Also... I do what I can to keep 2/3 of JVR, Carter and Edler. You have a good team there

Outright dropping lundquist has crossed my mind. I could try to trade him for smith. I want three starters.

i have to say that it’s a stretch for me to consider price the best goalie in the world. Karlsson ok he can bounce back. I think the difference between price and rask is large right now.

I don't like that initial offer due to Sergachev & DeBrincat being in it. I do like Kase at that cost, however.

Did you clarify that Karlsson can only be kept one more year?

If you looking for a bit of cap relief I would rather sell a guy like Larkin, JVR or Ekholm even for scraps from the garbage bin or a small upgrade in picks before I trade Price, Sergachev and Debrincat mamma mia.

Even if EK is going to waiver for next season I would rather keep him if possible and move him down the road during the season, someone might overpay trying to win.

I assume EK will sign for doughty money. That’s a drop for me. My total sal cap is like 101M with 22 players. I have to get down to 17 before the draft. Losing debrincat is big is but it’s easier to replace your stars than find a Rask. Kase and Bjorkstrand are very talented. I am thinking about mykander as I think he has to get seven per. Ya this one is tough to pick. Larkin at six is also not appealing but If zetterberg is out then looks good for Larkin.

Can?t just drop price. In a 14 team league, lots of teams don?t even have a tier 1 goalie.

G: Rask, Lundquist, Talbot = $19.6M (25% of cap)
G: Price, Smith, Talbot = $20.2M (25.5% of cap)

I want three starters.

These groupings don't work in a cap league that is set at $79.5M. Full stop. If you want three starting goalies and want to still have enough cap left to pay the rest of your team, you have to punt both Price and Lundqvist and get two less expensive options to go with Talbot.

My thinking on goalie money is five goalie cats and ten player cats so you could use 1/3 of your cap for goalies.

This is is flawed as other gms only use like ten to twenty million for goalies. So ivy likes on the player stats. Last year it didn’t matter even with price at cheap since the entire crew sucked shit.

Lets see see if I can move lundquist for a bag of pucks and be done. I still have a lot of decisions to make on my five to seven million dollar players. I can only get rask through price so ideally I have rask and Talbot and move lundqist.
