Couturier problems

I was planning on keeping Couturier, he's on such a good contract over the next few years - 4.25, 4.5, 4.75, 4.75

If he has seasons anything like the last one, that's one of the best contracts in the league.

But with these knee injuries piling up, I'm getting a little worried.

Would it be worth keeping Monahan (who also had a ton of offseason surgeries) instead, at 6.75?

I doubt it, but I'm a little rattled.

Nah, I think you just have to hope for the best. Couturier is still a really good player just coming into his own offensively, and in the playoffs he proved quite impressively that he can play through injury. He's the Flyers best Center, and he's on a fantastic contract as you mentioned. I wouldn't overthink this one.

Yup - One knee injury does not have you dumping that contract in a salary cap league. I read he is out for 4 weeks from a few days ago. The season starts in 6 weeks. Even if (big if) he is out for 8 weeks that would only mean missing 3 or 4 games in October.

He's supposed to only miss most of the pre-season, so I wouldn't worry about dropping him for somebody who also has knee issues with a worse contract.

Agree with everyone else, and also, don't forget that Monahan had 3 surgeries this off-season (Both hips and a hand I believe).
