If he play with Kopitar all year, I can see a 30-40 for 70 point as the floor for him

I passed on him recently in a draft... picked Atkinson instead... thought long and hard...

I dont know why but I see Gaborik 2.0 with Kovalchuk... he had his moments with the Kings but mostly underwhelming..

No I think his ceiling is around 80 points.

I don't know why peoples forgot how dominant he is (he remind me Malkin or Ovechkin) and I remember he can play the whole 2 minutes powerplay. So, the points will be there, I don't worry at all about his 35 year of age. I mean, are you scare Ovechkin or Malkin will be 55 points guys in 2-3 years? Of course not, it is the same talent with Kovalchuk. Anyway, I could be wrong, but I followed the player a lot and that's my tought.

Kovi was away from the game for a while, though. Malkin and OV haven't been. Kovi has been playing against lesser talent, also. I don't see 35 being that old but I don't see him having an easy transition right off the hop. I'll put him at 60 points but not too much more.
Points only keeper. 12 Teams. No pos requirements. 18 skaters / 3 goalies (2 count for points.) G/A = 1 point each (includes goalies) Goalies = 1.5 for W / 4.5 for SO. Minors - 4 year protection. Prospects added during their draft year only. Undrafted = waivers.

    Good points certainly.

I dont regard him in the Malkin/Ovechkin tier personally...

I hear ya that he's not too old to be productive still, but it's a young man's game and he's been out of the NHL long enough that their be an adjustment period

I see 20-25 goals, 50-65 points for him, depending on line. I could see him being shifted between 1st and 2nd lines.

assuming good health and consistent PP1 minutes and 5v5 deployment with Kopitar: 25-35 (floor) // 35-40 (ceiling)

I don't know if anyone has the stats handy but I don't think there has been many 35+ years old racking 70pts in recent NHL history...(maybe Jumbo Joe the last one?)

I appreciate Kovalchuk's talent but can't peg him for more than 60-62 points.

I mean ... that's absolute best case scenario / ceiling type production, thinking he is going to top 70-75 points. On the other hand, if he remains healthy and gets the deployment that most folks expect (Line 1 and PP1), I'd be very surprised if he finishes lower than 60-65. I think that's a pretty safe bet if you're drafting him as a 30-30 type player -- which is very valuable in its own right. He's probably also going to be a bulk shooter (200-250 SOG take that to the bank).
