    Default Butcher and Pacioretty

    Hey guys

Just wondering your thoughts on these players moving forward? I recently acquired them in a trade. I like Pacioretty and I think Butcher has more to offer but like to hear opinions.

    Cheers

2 very interesting players to watch this year and both could have huge seasons.

What can be said about Max Power that hasn't already been said? Very likely he rebounds this year, possibly in a big way, depending on location. MTL is so screwed up that my guess is he starts the season there, which would suck, but he should have plenty of motivation and his usual prime minutes on the PP. Easily a 30 G rebound with plenty of room for more if he lands in the right spot. Great buy low if that was your deal.

If Butcher cements that coveted PP1 quarterback then he is gold and there certainly is a chance he will. He finished the season in that role and he may be a perfect fit as a sheltered PP specialist as he develops. A lot depends on Vatanen - he is clearly the top dog but will be given way more tougher minutes 5v5 and penalty kill - hopefully leaving Butcher to fill the PP role. The loss of John Moore also helps Butcher establish himself so there is plenty of room for optimism. I rolled the dice on him landing the top PP gig and am hoping it pays off in a big way. In looking at your cats, however, not sure Butcher brings much to the table outside of his offense, so that really lowers his value. Mine is pure points only.

Below are a couple of articles that discuss Butcher's role going forward:
