"Hi Lou..., ya we are...uhh...gonna pass on that offer...ya Hampus is just too valuable."

I was incorrect, the Ducks would almost assuredly trade Lindholm for Matthews assuming they can create an extra $5+ million in cap room.

I don't think the Ducks would trade Lindholm straight up for anyone else on the Leafs roster nor would they trade him for a collection of lesser pieces.

Marner, Nylander, Tavares - they're starved for offence and all three of these players bring it. but Dubas isn't Chiarelli so he wouldn't do any of those 1-1 for Lindholm.

Anh traded Vatanen for Henrique and Blandisi... there's not a yard-stick of difference between Vatanen & Lindholm.

Likely if Anh moves another Dman it's a cost savings move - which is why this type of deal would make some sense - Their big money, declining forwards are on contracts they can't move unless there is retained salary.

The would also have a full season to find cap space. AM's only entering his 3rd year.

Gonna have to disagree here..... Vatanen is not in the same universe as Lindholm. One is top 2 d-man borderline #1, the other is a solid #4 or #5.

Do you really think the Ducks would trade away a top pairing dman for a center making $11,000,000 per season when they already have just under $21,000,000 in cap space tied up in their top 3 centers for each of the next 3 seasons?

There's trades that you make and forget about the cap and worry about it later. But whatever, you clearly aren't backing down on your thought here.

So this all started with Andrew Nielsen, and now the Leafs are shopping Calvin Pickard. Could they package them together to increase their trade value? Could it be something like those two to Anaheim for a 3rd round pick? That would be huge!

Yeah, the original "rumor" is insane.

Leafs brass is so secretive I really don't get how insiders still try to predict their moves
