A vetoed trade. Your thoughts?

Yesterday i made a trade with a new manager in our league. It was vetoed by veto board. I guess i overvalue my players in this trade since i felt it was a fair one but what do you guys think?

I get: P.K. Subban - Other manager gets: Tage Thompson + Esa Lindell + Aaron Dell + 75 Faab + 3rd round pick 2019

Clearly it's more of a now vs future type deal. I think the trade isn't great as subban imo should get a better now player. But I don't think it's so unbalanced that it's shady and I don't think veto should come up unless collusion is involved

Tage is a solid prospect, Lindell showed good promise after the halfway point last season, Dell..meh....I'd want more as a Subban owner, but not Veto.

This is a really bad trade. Whether or not it is veto worthy depends on your league more than it depends on our opinions. Is this normal procedure when such trades happen or does this one come across as sour grapes?

The way I see it, the commissioner sets the standards on what role vetoes play in your league and you have to decide whether or not you want to be a part of it.

Vetoes rarely happen in this league. The one other time I remember it happening was Max Domi and some throw-ins for Crosby. Otherwise it's sour grapes.

The veto panel is 5 (out of 20) guys in the league, so it's not just the commish throwing the hammer down thankfully.

My man Keppada has a point that is other truly horrible trades have happened in the past (Mete for Letang....and a 1st, which ended up being 1st overall this year.....yes) without a veto because they didn't "upset the balance" of the league. So on one hand I can see why he would be pissed off at the veto. I kind of expected it though, even if I don't fully agree with it.

Another couple of things worth mentioning - the Subban owner has been in the league 24 hours.
FAAB doesn't move the needle a lot for me in trades, but hey, maybe that's your thing. It does help a little.
3rd round picks are mostly reserved for "Oh shit, who do I pick now?" or lottery tickets or if you've done your research, hopefully someone that will help out in the future. They are the last round in our rookie draft and can only be used on players that have 0 games played in the NHL.

So yes, ugly trade. Vetoable? That's not up to me

Well they are right to be concerned here because deals like this do a lot of long-term damage to leagues. But again, it's up to you to decide what you want in a league and find one that fits your values and beliefs.

The veto panel has to be more than 50% of the league. On Fantrax I made it 80%.

Does this trade fit one of these? If so, consider a veto. If not, then there is nothing to see here.

1) Collusion. Two GMs trying to make one good team.
2) A brand new GM in an established league making a horrible early trade before understanding the league.
3) A trade that is overall bad for the health of the league. A trade so egregious that it demands intervention.

I agree with Moses... it's been vetoed to protect the integrity of the league and the new GM from accidentally blowing up his team

3/4 of your your starting FAAB I believe. Used on Free Agency Frenzy at the beginning of the season (post-rookie draft) and throughout the season obviously. Especially useful in playoff time when rookies are being added. But mostly for guys like Kovalchuk this season.
