McDavid On the Block

Manager has McDavid on the block and I have inquired with him about what it would take to get him. He seemed open to the idea of gaining Crosby+ or Ovi+ but with this being such a big move, I am not sure what it would take to gain him.
Any thoughts on this? I am really just focused on gaining McDavid although he does have PK Subban as well (and I need a small bit of help on D) but if you guys could help, that would be fantastic.

I think you need to find out what he wants the + to be. That will tell you whether his price is going to be unreasonably high or if you can squeak out a fair deal here.
You are taking on more salary, so that should mitigate what the plus would need to be a bit. If he's just asking for a decent prospect as a plus, or a medium level player, I would consider making the deal. But if he wants another one of your high end guys, I think it starts to become less desirable at that point.
Offer back one or two of your moderate to decent prospects as a start and see what he comes back with. If he's insulted, his asking price is likely beyond what you would want to pay anyways. A lot of times a guy will do this to see if he can't just get an unbelievable offer, but never really has any intention of making a fair deal.

Having McDavid on the block is a far cry from necessarily wanting to trade McDavid. He's probably just seeing if someone blows him away.

Crosby or Ovechkin + something makes sense. You get significantly younger, and give up something else to do so. If you can do it for somebody replaceable, I'd make the move.

Thanks! I was able to take advantage of McDavids slow start and the OGMs massive need for depth. I also don’t think he knew how big his 1st round pick would be.
