Chances for Dobson to jump in NHL this year?
Hi! Do you think that Noah Dobson can play in NHL this year? He?s so impressive! Rarely make a mistake, really good offensive, big men with good mobility! What do you espect for him in 2018-2019 and in the futur? I think he can became one of the best defencemen in the league. I?m crazy to think that?

Dobber doesn't even list odds of Dobson making the Islanders this year, and frankly, that doesn't surprise me. I think Boychuck, Leddy, Pulock and Pelech will be in the top-4, and I don't see them burning a year using Dobson as a 5th or later D-man.
I suppose Dobson could become one of the best dman in the league, but I think it'll take him awhile to become the best dman on the Islanders...

With guys like Aho and Towes in the mix I don't even see Dobson having a cup of coffee this year. 99.9% it's another year in the Q.

He's back to juniors this year. I think Edmonton made a serious mistake though.

I don't think he makes the leap this year. He's back in the Q and suits up for Team Canada in Vancouver for the WJC.

likely in the Q but he might get the ol 9 game looksie if he has a good camp / pushes Mayfield , outshines Rathgleb who are RHD like Noah

He just signed his ELC, so that's something. Isles just lost Tavares though, so I don't think it's a smart move to burn a year of his ELC in a lost year where he will play limited minutes. Won't do him much good to play under 15 a game with zero PP time. He could always surprise, any player can, but smart money is on another year outside the NHL.

Best thing for Dobson's development is another year in the Q where he will be their top D-man/PP QB and play for Canada in the WJC.
Followed by the AHL for a minimum of 1 year, possibly 2 then finally the NHL. Best case scenario is 21-22 for him to be in the show, especially since Lou has a history of not rushing prospects.
