Signed a massive contract in the offseason, threw like 40innings of terrible ball, injured his elbow back in like April, kinda pitched through it, finally went on the DL maybe in May. He's barely started any rehab.Originally Posted by Zorro

Hammels has been good outside of Arlington this season where the balls have flying out. Cubs have to hope that getting out of Texas and playing meaningful games will rejuvenate Hammels. He will replace Chatwood who has been awful this season as the #5 starter. If Darvish comes back they can put Montgomery in the pen which will greatly strengthen it. Cubs have the best record in the NL without getting much from Darvish, a down year from Bryant, and until recently, a down year from Rizzo. If several things go right, the Cubs can be the class of the NL.
