Keep Hanifin, he's on a new team and will be filling Hamilton's shoes. He'll get a chance at PP1 time. He is about equal to anyone on that list right now, but is more likely than anyone else to have a breakout year. Plus worse case scenario you'll be able to get a better return for him than anyone on that list. To break down each option:
Matheson - High cap hit compared to performance. He could breakout but he's behind Ekblad and Yandle
Gudas - Solid cap hit and hits/blocks. However he is losing minutes to younger PHI defensemen.
Leddy - Just lost Tavares and NYI has Pulock who could grab the PP1 minutes.
Vatanen - Butcher will be running the PP1
Maatta - Letang gets the PP1
Brodie - Doesn't hit and has 2 straight years of declining point totals
