Adding to this. Thinking about dropping Hanifin for one of the following.

Matheson
Gudas
Leddy
Vatanen
Maatta
Brodie

Or keep Hanifin?

Well we know Letang has the best upside of this group but it really depends on your cap room. If you have the money for Letang, I think he is worth it. I suspect a big comeback year from him.

Yandle is a sleeper on this list but I think I spend the little bit more on Letang

Klefbom is the risk/reward player here. If cap is tight, id risk him breaking out. He shoots lots and if he stays in EDM, should have a great chance to beat 40pts. I think his upside with McDavid is even higher BUT I dont see anything crazy from him like 60pts. If everything clicks, 40-50 window consistently.

I’d save your waiver priority for later and just grab yandle. They should be pretty similar for most categories and you know you’ll get more games out of yandle, he hasn’t missed a game in 10 years.

Is this for the league in your sig? If it is, and you pick up one of these guys, do you have to drop someone? How many do you start at each position?

The team is in my Sig. I don't have to drop anyone as I have Kunin and Schneider in my IR. Might wait to see if Letang clears waivers. If so I'll grab him. If not than Yandle seems like the other popular choice.

Good plan, save your waiver priority for something you cannot pass up. If he takes letang, you get an ironman in yandle.

I agree on saving the waiver.
D can be value-rostered for HIT/BLK/PIM in leagues where those categories exist.
Get your offense from your forwards.

I do agree that saving your WW makes the most sense here. It's not the end of the world if you miss out on Letang but I will be surprised if anyone snags him at that cap hit.

I’d be tempted to give Matheson a shot. Gudas is also a beast in your peripheral categories. I’d probably just wait and see

Keep Hanifin, he's on a new team and will be filling Hamilton's shoes. He'll get a chance at PP1 time. He is about equal to anyone on that list right now, but is more likely than anyone else to have a breakout year. Plus worse case scenario you'll be able to get a better return for him than anyone on that list. To break down each option:

Matheson - High cap hit compared to performance. He could breakout but he's behind Ekblad and Yandle
Gudas - Solid cap hit and hits/blocks. However he is losing minutes to younger PHI defensemen.
Leddy - Just lost Tavares and NYI has Pulock who could grab the PP1 minutes.
Vatanen - Butcher will be running the PP1
Maatta - Letang gets the PP1
Brodie - Doesn't hit and has 2 straight years of declining point totals
