The Leafs have won.........one playoff series in the last 15 years.

Even the Sens (a complete disaster) have a cup appearance, a Presidents Trophy and an ECF appearance in that time. The Sens will be fine, the Leafs have proven nothing yet

I think Leafs fans have every right to be gaga right now ... they just added the best UFA in years for nothing.
Their forward core of Matthews, Tavares, Marner, Nylander, Kadri and Kapanen is elite.
That said, I think the Leafs could sneak out a high-scoring series but need D.
Without a significant upgrade on D, the Leafs keep getting bounced.

They will be fine in both those areas. Andersen is a very good goalie who carried the team for stretches and the D is young and has potential to be better. The Leafs are on the cusp of becoming a very good team for a very long time evan if you can't see it.

I think Andersen is fine. He runs hot or cold, but he he played behind an average-at-best defense. I think he is more than capable of backstopping a Cup team. Gardiner is a train wreck in his own zone (and Liljegren is a Swedish clone of him). Zaitsev took steps back and Hainsey is nothing more than a depth 6th or 7th defenseman at this point... and he's playing way out of his comfort zone in Toronto. If the Leafs landed a Hamilton, etc. I would be very scared to face them. But they need a big-time, RHD who can munch 25+ minutes and knock other D down in the lineup to cozier spots.

The problem is, if the Leafs deal a Marner or Nylander to get said D-Man, they created another hole. Dubas must address defense if the Leafs are going to win Cups IMO.
Of course the Pens won Cups with their weakish D, but I wouldn't put Tavares and Matthews in the Sid and Geno category right now.

Either way, the Leafs will be a powerhouse for years and might end up being the most enjoyable team to watch on a nightly basis.

Evan I can see the Leafs will be decent, yes, but they won’t win anything significant.
