Default What is the best draft spot??

I have a keeper redraft happening this week, its only between 3 of the 10 Gms. It is a snake draft, so 123,321,123 and so on for 15 rounds. My question is what is the best spot to pick in to max the best picks 1, 2 or 3?

    Thanks in advance

I should have fully read your text before voting. I voted #1, but that was based on starting from scratch. I probably would have gone with #3 for the back to back, but with only 3 teams, maybe #1 is still good as you get the 1st along with the 6th and 7th picks. Regardless, picking on one of the ends is best for strategizing. If you're #2, each side gets 2 picks before you pick again. I love having 2 picks back to back. You can nab the last two goalies or defensemen, etc.

I think it comes down to who is available and what you want. In an 8 or 10 team redraft, I prefer last for the B2B. It kind of works out in the end. The sum of 1 and 16 is pretty much the same as 8 and 9 whether points or CATs. However, I like seeing what the other guys are doing and react accordingly. Same as the Commish, either end, not the middle. If there is someone in the player pool I really want, I might want first and that way I didn't get the last pick. But ... assuming the player pool is pretty thin, I have to pick 3rd. I want 2 of the top 4 players available and take my chances with the later picks.

Won't really matter enough in a hypothetical situation to pick one. Actual players available will matter a lot more to this answer, and it's still likely to be a very slim difference.

I'd say 1st generally only because there are more times there will be exactly 1 big difference maker out there than 2-4, and then having another tier break right before it gets to the guy with 1st pick to have his back-to-back.

Each spot likely lands great players being only 3 teams in the snake draft. I either go 1 to have the clear best player available drafted to me, particularly if there is a gap in talent from who's available to draft. If you are well prepared and good on your feet, I like the 3rd spot as well for the back to back. Nice to pick who you want twice in a row, but don't let time get the best of you here.

If there's only 3 people picking, I don't think it matters much although I'd prefer to be 1st or 3rd to get B2B picks.

Statistically, #1 is best draft spot if there is a standard/normal/Gaussian distribution of value to be drafted.
Just think of all the past years where the guy in a 1-year league that gets to draft Crosby or Ovechkin or LaDanian Tomlinson just runs away with the league.

Without knowing players available, I would say #1. But very dependent on players available at the top of the draft

15 rounds = odd number of rounds... there for #1 is the best for sure.

Since it is an odd number of rounds you will get #1 pick in the first round and the #1 pick of the last round..

All pretty much even, but if you have the first crack of anyone that's available it gives you some extra freedom. There could be an anomale where someone who should have been kept sneaks back into the draft. Then you have 2 more picks at 5 and 6 - which allows you to snag a BPA as well as a positional need - the reason I love back to back picks is you can go with your original draft plan as well as get in on a rush if you have to. I'll go with that every time!

the real big question here is - why are only 3/10 teams taking part in a redraft? Was here really bad imbalance of talent & new GM's coming on board? This strikes me as a very odd situation
