I offered my 5th overall and Gabriel Vilardi for the second overall pick (Svechnikov went first overall) and it was rejected.
Kind of relieved at this point and took Wahlstrom at 5!

I didn't have the first overall but I acquired it. I consulted everyone here, and they suggested to take the offer.
I got:
1st overall (Drafted Dahlin, D-scoring is 2.5x)
I gave up:
Shea Theodore
Jacob Trouba
Michael McLeod
8th Overall (He drafted Evan Bouchard)
League settings in signature but that is not the league or team (12 teams, but use the same cats)
So I owned 1, 2, and 7.

Depending on your league settings, I think you'd be better served targeting the 2nd overall pick. Svechnikov is likely to be a much more immediate fantasy contributor and he's a goal scorer with physicality, so he could end up being a good multicat scorer. Maybe Dahlin really is 'generational' and comes in and scores 60 as a rookie, but I bet he's more likely to start around 40 and actually decline a bit as the defensive responsibilities pile up.
By targeting the 2nd pick you're still going to get one of these players.
I managed to get the 2nd overall in a league of mine for Landeskog, Lias Andersson and a 2nd round pick. Happily drafted Svechnikov but was legitimately worried the GM before me would take him.
I should clarify, by 'decline a bit' I mean the points may come down a bit as he works into a #1 role, but around year 4 or 5 he could be potting his first 50+ seasons.
Basing this entirely on the history of defenders going top 5 and starting in the NHL at 18
I owned the 1st overall pick and traded it away. Full trade was...
Acquired:
1st Round Pick (6th overall)
2nd Round Pick
4th Round Pick
Traded Away:
1st Round Pick (1st overall)
9th Round Pick
12th Round Pick
Other team is rebuilding while my team is in a win now mode. I received a haul but also gave up Dahlin/Svechnikov in the process.

I have two new offers on the table.
I give: 1st overall, W.Nylander, R.Pulock
I receive: 5th overall, S.Crosby, non-keeper dman
Is this a no-brainer? It's really just a working base, and I feel I could extract a bit more value out of this.
-----
I give: 1st overall, non-keeper forward, I.Provorov
I receive: 3rd overall, M.Stone, non-keeper dman
This is the GM that sent me the original offer that started this thread, so he stepped up his game. I feel like Provorov is hard to give up.

Thoughts gentlemen? REP for helping me out with this
Points-only keeper league. 12 teams. Keep any 12 players. Dress 12F - 6D - 2G.
This is a no-brainer for me. If you were starting a league from scratch, where would Crosby & Dahlin get drafted? The difference between 1st & 5th overall is simply your choice of almost everyone available, instead of everyone.
The Other offer is much improved, but still not in the same ballpark.
Want a Signature? Go to Settings, and you'll find Edit Signature down the list on the left.
I don't love this to be honest. Unless these picks are more than just prospects, I think the fall from 1st to 6th is pretty big -- and although a 2nd and 4th are nice, there aren't really guarantees after the 1st round (or top half of the first).
Again, maybe this isn't just a prospect draft?
Feels like a light return to me.
