Am I the only one around here who's expecting a significant regression from Barzal?

He's going to be rushed into the 1C slot ahead of schedule this year, so not only will his responsibilities increase quite a bit, but he no longer has a fellow star to take the heat off him. He's obviously a game-breaking talent, but what he did in year 1 will take an incredible advancement in year 2 to repeat.

    Just a thought...

Toying with the idea of Barzal for Heiskanen + Necas. Thoughts? Fair?

I'm sure the other guy would accept immediately cause that's just a horrible trade for you. Last time I checked, Barzal put up over ppg as a rookie and now he's going to get even more ice time and opportunities. That pretty much puts him in the NHL's top 10 sooner than later so if you're going to trade him, sell high, and not the other way around.

I'm not sure what your motivation is here? Why move Barzal, especially for futures? You say, "I want to add a top rookie D to my squad". What on earth for?!?! Your settings are THE WORST for a young Dman [G, A, PPP, SOG, FOW, Hits, Blks, Pims]. Your league has you chasing D different styles of defencemen. One style is, a top end PPQB that shoots the puck a ton and is out on the PP with 4 forward almost every single power-play opportunity. Someone like Shane Gostisbehere. The other Dman style is the tough gritty player. A #4 Dman who kills it in these CATS, Hits, Blks, Pims. A player like Brooks Orpik or Nikita Zadorov or a Radko Gudas. If you can snag a D that covers both like PK Subban then all the better.

If you are going to move Barzal you should be looking the other way, trade him for someone with a proven track record, not for someone like Boqvist, Hughes, Bouchard.

    My two cents.

I have, but unfortunately people in my cap league treat rookies like they are Gretzky for whatever reason haha
I was recently offered..... $6.3m Monahan for my $1.4m Barzal.... needless to say I rejected that. I have sent feelers out for but people are trying to low ball....as per usual haha

Then I would just keep Barzal - cheap salary for a guy potentially top 20 scorer, wouldn't be giving him away
