    Default Return for Barzal?

    Hey guys,

I was thinking about shopping Barzal around. I want to add a top rookie D to my squad and was thinking I could potentially get a C out of it as well. Here's a list of trade options I was going to offer around the league. Think Barzal could land any of these combos or am I asking for too much in return?

    Barzal for...
    1. Elias Pettersson + Boqvist
    2. Chytil + Hughes
    3. Lias Andersson + Bouchard

    Cheers

    1. this would be great but probably asking too much
    2. this is close but you're taking all the risk
    3. this is not enough

I agree with Juoko here for the most part
    1. I don't think you have a chance of landing that. But I guess you can try
2 and 3 I don't think are good deals for you. Like JP said you're taking all the risk. If you wanted one of the D, I'd want a more proven young F than those or a bigger name like a pettersson

Is there a reason why you are considering shopping Barzal?

For me, unless you are getting #1, I am not trading him.

I think you are asking for too little on all three trades. Barzal is elite. I would be asking for a bona fida good player and a high end prospect. Don't forget, high end prospects sometimes miss (Yakupov, Filatov, Drouin). If I had Barzal and would be inclined to trade him, I would be asking for something along the lines of Forsberg and Petterson. If I didn't get it, I would be happy keeping Barzal.

Agree! I wouldn't trade Barzal for any of those combos of prospects you listed. But #1 is best of the options for sure.

Hold Barzal. Trade someone else to improve your D.
Barzal, Mackinnon, Pulock and McAvoy should be virtual untouchables. Beyond that I’d trade anyone.

Definitely keep Barzal. This kid has done what nobody else has done in a verrrrryy long time: 85 pts in his rookie season at age 20? Get outta here!

Yep. You are overvaluing Barzal in that offer, for sure.

Yes and no. No based on Barzal's numbers, but yes due to concerns of regression plus asking for two studs in return and throwing in Coyle, who's a lower tier forward even in a league where 400 players are owned.

I improved the offer with Barzal + Steel and a 1st next year. Trying to inch my way closer without overpaying haha

That is closer - arguably close enough. Just make sure he doesn't rope you into going overboard. Get to your best and final and don't budge. If that means a deal doesn't happen then so be it. Better than giving up too much just for the sake of getting a player, just like it's a bad idea to overbid in an auction draft because you have your mind set on getting a certain player.

Have you tried putting Barzal on the trade block and seeing what type of offers you get for him. will give you an idea how other owners value him.
