Looking at your setup and roster, I'd go with Hall. You already have Seguin and Crosby for your 2C, plus Hall is an upgrade to Miller on your LW. Not to mention, I am pretty sure Miller has dual roster eligibility and can start at C for you as well.

If there's no bonus for goals I like Gaudreau more than tank in points only. Id be fine with that move for a bit more balance. I prefer moving one of your centers though as the wingers are tougher to fill at the top end.

I could probably do Tavares for gaudreau, I just felt that Tavares was a better player than Tarasenko so was hoping to keep him if possible

I think they are very close, I'm sticking with JT though. Him being a leaf keeps his perceived value at an all-time high, and Hall is a bit of an Injury risk.

I think you can't go too wrong with either... of course!

So the other GM asked what he would need to add to Hall to make a Tavares deal work. Obviously can't be a crazy ask. I would be looking for someone to replace Spurgeon as my last keeper as he would be easily replaced.

Some of the realistic potential adds might be:

Elias Pettersson (rookie player but could he be impactful next year? We have no minor system so he would be on my team, but might be worth the risk)

Correy Perry (older player on his decline)

Erik Huala ( Will Vegas regress, not sure where he fits in that lineup as I didn't follow Vegas really at all)

Jesse Puljujarvi (other GM has held onto him even when he was sent to the minors so might be hard to get him, is he even worth it?)

Joe Thornton (signed again for another year, injury risk, would he be a help in my quest to repeat as champion?)

Dylan Larkin ( would be a stretch to add him, would probably have to add something else in going back his way)

Ask for a pick, he has a first rounder (he is not likely to include this at all) and 3 secound rounders (best bet of any, 13th, 14th and 20th overall. Draft includes new rookies and any player not designated a keeper by any team. 20 keepers by 10 teams so top 200 players kept. I have traded most of my picks and don't pick until the last pick in the 3rd round so I don't value picks super high.

My first instinct that seems reasonable and has potential is asking for Pettersson. Lot's of talk of him playing with the Canucks next year, kind of a name this offseason so there is trade value down the road with him and seems like he would be a viable option from the other GM to make a deal work for Tavares.

I also have an offer out to another team of my Tarasenko and a 3rd round pick for his Johnny Gaudreau. I think I prefer that deal over trading Tavares but no diea if he is interested, still waiting to hear back.

    Any opinions would be great.

I would have done Hall straight up so this is a nice option for you. If you can get him to add Pettersson then this is a pretty big win for you IMO.

Better than the Tarasenko gaudreau trade proposal?

Petterson or Pulj, in that order and I think this is a steal for you personally. If you're looking to win, hall is better for your team. If you're looking to hold the shiny new virtual asset in a maple leafs jersey then don't do the trade. Personally I like winning.

Apparently I should have asked for more. lol Trade has been accepted.

My John Tavares 3rd round pick (30th overall) for
his Taylor Hall, Elias Pettersson and 2nd round pick (20th overall)

Thanks for all the advice over the last few days and threads I started. Hopefully this balances out my team and gives me a good chance to repeat.

That's a solid deal for each team. No issues there. Getting Pettersson is gravy.
Hockey Pools? Too many to mention. Points only, salary cap and dynasty.

While you could've asked for more, it might have killed the really good deal you made. Don't let the pursuit of the perfect get in the way of the acquisition of the good.

You got a roughly equivalent player at a hard spot to fill, plus a pick upgrade, plus a top prospect.

For sure. I jokingly told the other GM I should have asked for a higher pick and he said he would have had to counter back at that point.
