Who would you guys want this year? I have Talbot on my roster, but Allen just got dropped right before we have to set our keepers. I could pick him up and drop Talbot if this thread say too.
I think I'd keep Talbot over Allen, and hope.

I would go with Talbot, too. His floor is higher, even if his ceiling is lower.
IMO this is a wash at best...

I agree it's a lateral move. Talbot is more consistent, but St Louis is a better team. I think Edmonton has a better back up, but I don't think that's enough reason to drop Talbot.
Contract year for Talbot. Easy choice for me.

Gut says Talbot....but I did think about it quite a bit. St Louis has added a lot of good pieces this offseason. At the end of the day Allen has played horribly in front of good teams, so I don't really trust him. Talbot is coming off a bad year but he had good stretches. I am not confident that the Oilers are going to improve leaps and bounds though. I guess I'll take Talbot, but I don't say that with a ton of confidence.

You need to keep Talbot. I'm not much of a risk taker and lean towards consistent players so I choose him.
Both are a gamble but I?d feel more comfortable with Talbot.
Thank you. I knew this would be close but it looks like Talbot has the slight edge.
Talbot
Talbot...says this Oiler fan wishfully!

I would hold Talbot if I was you.
EDM was last place in PP% and bottom 10 in PK% last year
EDM was top 6 in PP% and middle of the pack (17th) in PK% in 2016-2017
I do not see them repeating last place PP% with a player like McJesus in his prime and I see them falling back to middle of the pack in PK again.
Just for example WPJ were last place in 2015-2016, 12th in 2016-2017, and 4th 2017-2018 which helped Helly (and WPJ) into the playoffs and lifted Helly into the upper tier of goalies.
Im buying on Talbot. Toss in contract year and the new born child/down year theory. I suspect in my re-draft he will drop because of last year too!

I kept Talbot after having him on my roster in his 40 win season. Couldn't move him for a song last year.. but couldn't drop him either because he was a workhorse. I do think Edmonton fell hard last season and likely meets in the middle between past two seasons this year. Talbot will fall in drafts most certainly, but should reach ~35 wins if healthy (31 last year). Fair sv% and gaa (i.e. 0.910-0.915 and 2.60-2.75). Those numbers would put him in between last two seasons and absolutely worth rostering. I fear Allen never really took the no.1 gig and and is too inconsistent. While he is clear no.1 now with Hutton out, I lean to knowing Talbot is playing.
