For like 10-15 teams in the league, it's almost completely about the money rather than the cap hit.

There will always be teams willing to take a higher cap hit for lower salary. That is one of the reasons Gaborik was attractive to Ottawa.

Plus teams using their cap space to take on contracts. Arizona has traded for Bolland, Datsyuk and Pronger, for example.

Now if Pricer doesn't turn it around then I don't know what to think anymore. I suppose landing Jack Hughes would cure the pain.

Also, if Weber does come back in January, there would be about half a season remaining which would actually, realistically put him in mid-season form by the time the playoffs roll around in April. Mid season form means a player is probably at peak conditioning for the year. Capeesh? (Italian for understand?)
