I wouldn't mind seeing Max on the Sabres or Hawks.
He would be an upgrade over E.Kane and a PP of Pax, Eichel, Mittelstadt, Dahlin, Ristolainen would be lethal.

IMHO whomever is dissing DBrass on the radio better have some therapy because he fits the bill. Established nhl veteran with some good years ahead. Fluent French speaker, finals experience and Vegas is picking up some of the freight on the deal. So of course “they” don’t want him. Yes he has to be resigned but in msg we called him big game brass.
    90 Stanley cup playoff GP
59 points in those games with the last 12 as a penguin to play defense.
In some ways he reminds me of Damphousse who was a bit younger but a great hab.
Montreal can do ALOT worse than Brassard
Just sign him to a new deal and he can haunt the sens for a few years as a bonus
Consider Sim Hockey because guys who play shutdown minutes, deflect shots and clear creases build championships. Yet in fantasy they litter the unwanted UFA lists.

As to where pacioretty goes, I think Carolina is a good fit
The have the cap space, need the pp upgrade, new owner unafraid to make a move
Perhaps a guy like victor rask coming back, yeah probably not the most exciting name but he is a center, young and in need of another opportunity.
Without the extension however I doubt pacrioretty gets a rask in return at this point, nothing like a motivated seller to screw over the return

On the surface it makes some sense. But the Habs need youth not a 30 yo brass. They needs picks and prospects

Montreal would likely riot if this happened. Was addressed on Mtl radvio last week and this scenario didn't go over very well with the announcers.
Hockey Pools? Too many to mention. Points only, salary cap and dynasty.

Brassard makes no sense. He has one year left I doubt he commits to a new contract today unless the team overpays. Better off getting younger players that are in their RFA years.

So given it doesn't make sense Bergevin will probably make the deal, 1 for 1.

That's ridiculous. He'd probably throw in a conditional second rounder.

He loves 1 for 1 deals so much he's willing to take a lesser player back every time just to make it work.

Saying they'll trade Patch for Brassard is ridiculous. The compete now ship has sailed - Montreal is a team building through the draft and embracing youth now.

I think at this point Patch will go to any team willing to take him on for the base price of a first round pick. That opens the door - a decent young roster player or prospect is what will close the deal.

Chicago seems like an interesting option right now

Vegas retained a good chunk of Brassard's salary - $2m, making him very affordable for Pitts this upcoming season $3m. Patches costs more, so more $$ would have to go to Mtl than Brassard for this to make sense. I don't see it. Mtl will look to get picks/prospects or young players for him.

This is not a trade Bergevin makes often, hell ever, either acquiring a player or trading away one, so I don't see this happening fast. There's almost nothing in his trade history to compare this two - Eller for 2 2nds? Moving Patches for a hot young prospect 1-1 perhaps? DeBrincat fits the bill if looking at the type of player that would fit well with Domi & Drouin, but doubt Chi. does something insane like that. If this is 1-1 - that's the type of return I'd expect.

Mind you I expect 2-4 pieces coming back to Mtl in this one, especially with an extension attached.
