    Default Advice on Last Keeper

    Hey guys,

I'm a few days away from submitting my keepers. I've got 17 out of 18 locked down but am still debating the last guy.

Who has the most value in a cap league next year?

Robby Fabbri (RFA) - lots of talent but may never walk again
Jesper Bratt ($825,000) - good value, modest upside

I was 100% leaning towards Fabbri but have started to get a bit nervous.

*EDIT* Was also considering Evan Rodrigues but he is now out of the running.

I want Bratt here, by far. Bratt's a winger, who at 19, has exceeded Rodrigues' NHL entire career scoring total in fewer games played, while Rodrigues is 5 years older or so.

I started to think about Fabbri, and to ask how easy it would be to get him off the cap if he's hurt again, but Bratt's younger, and shown roughly the same amount, and is way healthier.

    Thanks for the reply.

I think you're probably right. Taking Rodrigues over Bratt just to save $175,000 is ridiculous. Especially after the Sheary deal.

Out of curiosity, if Fabbri didn't miss all of last year, would you take him or Bratt?

I would take Fabbri. Wait until he returns, and then deal him for a bigger return than you would get for either of the other two.

He definitely has more trade value. I tried shopping Bratt around and the jokers in my league started teasing me about making him up! Haha

For the last keeper spot, I would choose the 'go-big-or-go-home' player.

Sounds like you'd be leaning towards Fabbri over Bratt.

I have someone trying to trade Drouin as I type this. I don't like Drouin. I don't want Drouin. Since he's a buddy, I decided to bust his balls and offer the last pick in our draft. He countered with Fabbri. I'm thinking about it. Even if just to flip him for someone else.

*EDIT* I'd be all over making him my last keeper if it wouldn't add 4m to my cap.

^^ I'd take Drouin over Fabbri. Easy accept.

I don't know, it would depend on what Fabbri did. If he played at about the same level he has played it, I'd take him, due to the longer track record. The injury though, is an issue.

Which do you think you can redraft easier? Sounds like nobody values Bratt.

And I'd trade Fabbri for Drouin easily.

I'd go Fabbri, might as well gamble on that upside.

Soooo... I mentioned to someone in my league that I was considering trading Fabbri for Drouin, and they offered me Huberdeau. As LW is a big need for me, I accepted so fast I think I broke my computer.

    So that settles that!

Thank you for the advice everyone.

Well that worked out well. You end up with Huberdeau over Bratt as the final keeper. Nice one!
