    I don't think so. I think it has more to do with the exodus of Sens (Phaneuf, Turris, Methot, Brassard, etc.) ... this team just doesn't seem to be a close group anymore. At 37, why would you want to end your career in a rebuild on a team with little character? This idea is loosely based on an article this morning in the Athletic.

    It's a valid point. Anderson doesn't really have specific ties to Ottawa (he lives near Chicago in the off-season I believe). Gotta think there would be desire there to go back to the Hawks. Even if his wife is doing well now, I would just figure it's make life easier to be closer to home. Not to mention I'd rather spend my last couple seasons with a competitive team over a rebuilding club.

    melnyk saves 2.5 mil in actual salary paid out over 2 years in a anderson/greiss deal ; so great for eugene too

    anderson cap hit is 4.75 but he's paid 5.5 this year and 4.0 next year ; Greiss 3.25 this year , 3.75 next year with cap hit of 3.33

    If the Isles can send a skater that's not too expensive that saves Ottawa money in total, yet is at least a 3rd line guy, that might work.
