    Default Nick Ritchie

    Hey everyone.

5th overall pick in a salary cap league.
    Keep 18 of 25 players. 12 teams.
    G, A, PPP, HITS, BLKS,PIMS, SOG, FOW

Just wondering everyone's opinion on Nick Ritchie in a banger league. Is he a must own? I have the 5th overall pick and normally like to draft a top prospect from this year's draft. Ideally I'd draft Tkachuk but Ritchie is proven and has a couple of years under his belt.

I'm only drafting wingers in my draft as my other positions are taken care of.

    Cheers

I have Ritchie in my league that counts PIMS. He was pretty underwhelming to me last year to the point where I will be dropping him this year. Yes he's proven over Tkachuk but Tkachuk might end up in a nice situation where he can contribute right away. My bias against Ritchie says go with Brady

It depends on the exact format. In one league I'm in if Ritchie can go 20-20-40-80 pim - 250 hits he's super valuable at a presumed low cap hit. But he shouldnt be valued at a top 5 pick imo

Completly agree with this. I also have Nick and he brings value mostly in the hit department and I can see him progressing into better scoring numbers. I'd also like Brady over him any day of the week.

    Thanks for the responses.

I'll aim for Ritchie as my 2nd or 3rd pick then.

I think the top 5 picks this year will go like this.
Dahlin, Schechnikov, Zadina, Tkachuk... leaving me with Kotkaneimi or Wahlstrom ....if I were to draft a top Forward prospect.

take Wahlstrom... If its a bangers league, then I'd probably lean Tkachuk. Ritchie can be had later on for sure, and if you miss on him - you can dig for a Dman that provides big hits/PIM - see waiver fodder vet - Luke Schenn
