Still my favorite NHL player even if he doesn't play for the Oilers anymore.
The 26 year old Calgary native just captured his first Hart Memorial trophy after completing his best season statistically. Hall finished with a career high in goals (39), assists (54), points (93), and lead the New Jersey Devils to their first play-off berth since the 2011/12 season. The other Hart Memorial trophy nominees were Colorado Avalanche's Nathan MacKinnon and Los Angeles Kings captain Anze Kopitar.
Still my favorite NHL player even if he doesn't play for the Oilers anymore.

I was impressed with his speech. That Larsson deal is looking worse and worse. I'm really hoping Larsson is able to be a stud next year, but I'm struggling to buy into it.

Angus is my best friend at dobberhockey..
It's crazy to think Seguin had in many people's eyes finished off the debate a year or two ago. It's definitely back on now - we are seeing why there was such a hot debate between the two in 2010. It's insane that they've both been traded (as well as like everyone else at the top of that draft).

I think they both showed they had some maturity issues. The trades in this case certainly have helped the individuals (wake up call to grow up) more than the teams that traded them. Nice to see hall excelling and showing some maturity. He is a really good player and always has been.

No doubt in my mind that if Hall/Seguin were still on Edmonton/Boston, neither player would be doing as well as they are today.
Although I am obviously disappointed in the return that Edmonton got for Hall, it does go to show that sometimes it is best for everyone involved to make the trade. I'm thinking, for example, that if Dylan Strome or Sam Reinhart don't start to get going, maybe Arizona/Buffalo should deal them. What if Eichel has another disappointing season? At what point do you consider dealing him? Some players just can't make it work with the team that drafted them, for some reason.
