    Default Lukas Elvenes

Recently acquired this kid (Thanks VintageVibe!) and was looking for some more info about him.

From what I've read this kid has offensive/playmaking instincts, is a solid skater, and protects the puck very well.
His knock is that his defensive game needs work.

He was ranked pretty decently by scouts in the 2017 draft, but fell to the 5th round when Vegas picked him up.

    Ranked #67 by Hockeyprospect.com
    Ranked #49 by ISS Hockey
    Ranked #63 by Future Considerations
    Ranked #88 by McKeen?s Hockey
Ranked #18 by NHL Central Scouting (EU Skaters)
    Ranked #58 by TSN/McKenzie

Anyone have any more insight on him?

I recently picked up Elvenes. He was brought to my attention due to a ranking of his past season in terms of the his league and age with the rest of the recently drafted players. I wish I could find the ranking (I looked) but let's just say that his name stood out as someone that didn't belong with the rest of the prospects. His season was top 15. So I read more about him and it sounded promising. Worth a shot.

Now its 11 points in his first 7 games. This has compelled me to pick him up. I read quite a bit about him on some obscure Euro scouting blogs over the offseason. Consensus was that he was one of the best prospects in Europe despite being under the radar. I wouldnt expect him to be covert much longer while leading the AHL in scoring.

Corey Pronman has been fairly high on him the last couple years, I'm surprised he's not rubbing Lukas' success in his detractor's faces more. Maybe he is though, I'm not going to search his twitter account to find out.

The Golden Knights also selected NCAA standout Jack Dugan 15 picks later in that same draft. Their scouting staff appears to be quite good at finding gems in the later rounds so far.

Maybe Jokke will be around later and can give us his take on Elvenes.

I've been holding on to him in a dynasty league for over 2 years. If he keeps this up I think we'll see him in Vegas before the year is over.

Elvenes has always been incredibly talented. He was incredible at age 18 but didn't really see eye-to-eye with the coach the following year which caused his stats to stagnate. I don't remember the exact details but there were rumors that he might need a trade out of Rogle but he finished the season there nevertheless.

It's not easy to be an effective playmaker from the wing but Elvenes has all the tools to make it work even at the NHL level. He's only 20 years old and this is already his 3rd year playing against men. The SHL is a great league and Elvenes played for one of their worst teams, so he was playing against tough opponents each night.

Don't treat him like a 5th round pick, treat him like a 2nd round pick instead. That's the advice I would give. Definite top-six upside, and his trajectory is pointing towards him getting there.

PS: I didn't do rankings back in 2017 but Cam Robinson had him at 71 back then. https://dobberprospects.com/prospect...rospects-2017/

His start has been crazy. Now has 13 pts in 8 GP and the next closest guy on the team has 8 pts and then 3rd with 6 pts and those guys are 24 and 27 respectively. Hard for him to get a promotion though when the team has a stacked top 6 and Roy and Glass are already up with the team. Now we wait. In one league a guy was out of town during the end of our prospect draft and he asked me to pick for him, so I took Elvenes, wish I was more selfish haha.

It should be probably be noted that the Chicago Wolves have only scored 20 goals as a team in those 8 games. Elvenes has a hand in a ridiculous 65% of his team's goals so far.

After a rather lackluster season last year, I would have traded him for any reasonable pick over the summer. So glad I held onto him. Helps make up for some of the other bad drops I made.
