An AHL All-Star the year before last. The 22-year-old RHD with a howitzer of a shot has always been a weak skater and didn't seem to improve that aspect of his game this past year. As such the Coyotes have traded him to the Sharks for forward Adam Helewka. I suppose Chayka didn't see him fitting in with a faster-paced NHL but can the Sharks utilise his strengths and find a sheltered spot in their line-up for him?#SJSharksacquire defenseman @KyleWood_3 from @ArizonaCoyotes.

These smaller deals always fascinate me because the players are still prospects and the deals happen for a reason. In this case Helewka is ditched after the Sharks re-signed Evander Kane and Wood is ditched after the Coyotes "re-signed" OEL.
Wood has a decent path to an NHL spot but I don't think he'll ever be more for the Sharks than Joakmin Ryan's current role.

Lol I think he'll be better off with an NHL pay cheque rather than a Jack Link's jerky one. Maybe hockey.

Taking a step back in his progression last year really hurt his value for fantasy owners. You want to see Dmen progress, not decline in regards to their development. Hopefully this move helps him get back on track.
