A "strange" Ottawa twitter account (not the hoffman/karlsson stuff)

The internet is a magical place. Where opinions fly and recourse is few and far between. It's still a community, and places like twitter and Reddit harbor that. Places like this forum create a niche for the uber passionate. Seeing opinions on here for the last few years has been great for me personally. It's a space where knowledgeable minds and rookies meet. I've seen users that always come with great insight get bumped up to actual writing positions that they deserve and fills a market that is there. There's always gonna be drama, it's the Internet. But to have a connected community that serves a niche like fantasy hockey I hope stays pure. Maybe it's my nievity. I just hope this place doesn't get lost in the trolls or burner accounts. I never frequented the hfboards but I hear the rumors. It's places like this that passionate fans knowledgeable or not come together and I hope it stays that way. Whoever comes to this site and decides to participate has one thing in common and it shouldn't be forgotten. And that's hockey. Or baseball and football for some reason
i still don't understand why. I don't know what spurred this rant other than knowing a place where like minded people should coexist without fear of bullying or looking like an idiot is a need not a want. Twitter fills its role. Reddit, Facebook, etc. I just want a place to feel it's ok nerding out to some fantasy hockey. I hope this place continues to be that.

I've lurked for long time round these parts, but I wanted to say that sometimes the hype-train runs out of control, and I always respect differing opinions and cynicism. The balance is what keeps us sane.

Being rude is what it is, but we are adults and we can likely handle it. Getting baited is no excuse, as you can only control your own actions. Try to control someone else, and you're outta control.

Thanks to Yost, twitter and HFBoards may be onto Big_Ev now, but we can all take pride in knowing that we knew him before he was famous.

I agree that Ev was/is a valuable source for Sens info. More unknown prospects, scouting tendencies etc. The only issue is that he is such a superfan, that everything Senator related was, in his eyes superlative and beyond critique, until that Senator related topic was no longer Senator related. The best example is how he completely slammed Bobby Ryan at every opportunity while Ryan was a duck (and actually productive), until Ryan went to Ottawa. At that point, despite Ryan turned it garbage, Ev?s opinion of him and eternal optimism reversed. Or Ev?s opinion that prospects from the Q were all overrated due to a higher scoring league, until the Sens starting drafting players from the Q. That brought another 180 in his opinion.

Anyhow, that?s more annoying than harmful.

Ev is a superfan, but I doubt he?s an employee because he was in his late teens or early 20s when he joined here. At least he claimed that.

To be that level of superfan, clearly compulsion for something someone feels passionate about would be par for the course in someone?s DNA, hence the multiple accounts/bans.

On one hand, I feel he should be reinstated, particularly if we?re going to tolerate aliases. On the other hand, his offences were ban worthy, so it?s hard to justify him being allowed back, especially if some of the behaviour is 100% in contradiction to what we?d expect from any member who should respect forum rules.
