Looking at making an offer for Barrie or Ekman Larsson as I need some help on D.

Does Jonathan Marchessault get it done? Too much to give? Go for John Carlson instead maybe?

As a guy who had both Barrie & OEL going into this last season, I would've taken Marchessault for either. I'm way more confident of my ability to find breakout scoring D than forwards off the wire in my league, though.
Our league is 4 Forward lines, 3 D pairs, only goals & assists matter for skaters so similar structure.

Try for Carlson if you like. Last year was a huge tear for him, so while he'd normally be right in that same range, he might be a bit higher now.
10 team Head-to-head true dynasty. Roster 33, draft 2, cut down before season. Start 1 G, 1-2 backup G's, 6 D, 12 F arranged in 4 lines of 3. Only categories that matter are Goals, Assists, Save% with a shutout bonus. Having NHL teammates helps.

    G: F Andersen
    Backup G: Holtby
D: Gardiner, M Reilly, Letang, Klingberg, Gostisbehere, Carlson
    F1: Voracek, Giroux, Couturier
    F2: Wheeler, Schiefele, Tavares
    F3: Benn, Seguin, MacKinnon
    F4: Stamkos, Point, JT Miller

    Bench:
    G: (none)
    D: Ekman-Larsson, Werenski, Orlov
F: Pavelski, Bailey, Guentzel, Sprong, Killorn, Bjorkstrand, Tuch, Labanc, Namestnikov, Nyquist

    Reserve:
    Datsyuk

I also own Barrie & OEL in the same keeper league and wouldn't trade either for Marchesseault. So go ahead and make the offers.

Points only leagues I see it like this as far as value for their position:

    Marchessault > OEL
    Marchessault > Barrie
    Barrie > OEL

Marchessault could easily be a ppg forward next year. Way more valuable than either d man imo.
    Set roster weekly in H2H (Mon to Sun) - 16 Teams - start 6F, 3D, and 1G per week - Keep 2

    Points: 2 G / 2 A / 1 PPG / 1 PPA / 1 Hat Trick / 1 SHG / 1 SHA / 1 GWG - 3 Goalie Win / 2 Goalie Loss in SO or OT / 5 goalie SO

    Forwards:
    S. Crosby, N. MacKinnon, B. Wheeler, S. Aho, B. Schenn, R. Getzlaf, J. Huberdeau, M. Stone

    Defense:
    T. Krug, K. Yandle, J. Gardiner, J. Theodore

    Goalie:
    C. Talbot

you start 4D - but 4 of each F position - you need D less than you think with Ghost, Risto, Krug as your top 3 - your 4th is weak, but I'd be looking at a smaller deal (where you keep Marchessault) and try and grab Gardiner or Ellis - someone in a 2nd pair with real sneaky value

Dmitry Orlov just became available in free agency. Figured I should drop Oesterle for him. Could have good value if they don't sign anyone on D
