Beglium!!!! I was able to watch their 3 stage games and that was pretty exciting. The game yesterday was amazing!

After all the upsets early it did not look good, then what a crazy finish!
sidenote: As I hockey fan I hate, hate, hate, that late in the game nobody knows how much time is left.... anyways amazing win. By all accounts Brazil v. Belgium is going to be an incredible quarter-finals. Someone told me before the England v. Belgium knockout game that the loser of that game was going to be the winner because of the draw, not sure if he was right but we are here now.

Final thought: the Japanese fans and players are some of the classiest, respectable fans I have ever seen. Their fans stay after every game (win or lose) to clean up the stadium. The team cleaned their locker-room and left a thank-you note to the hosts. If only more sports fans could be like that.

Yes, this was awesome!! It was also awesome to see them get in on the fair-play rule. Very classy. Where other teams fans would have rioted after being beaten out.

Props to Team Japan for sure and I hope they are in the Groups that play in Canada in 2026!!

Probably still slightly an underdog vs France. If they win that and advance into the finals, especially considering their path, they’d likely be favourited vs whoever the opponent would be.

SO I went from a guy who knew nothing about soccer, and did not care about it, to absolutely gut wrenched over a loss in about 3 weeks. Man that game was crazy close.

Props to France to holding the lead after getting it. My kit did not arrive in time but when it does I'll throw it in the closet and pull it out for ... I guess the Euro Cup in 2 years.

Edit: Just learned there is a 3rd place game on Saturday. Not sure how I feel about that but I'll be cheering for the Red Devils to have their best World Cup finish ever.

I dont follow soccer much. I hate watching grown men roll around and cry like a 10 year old. I do "cheer" for England though simply because of my family heritage. Glad to see they are doing well this tourney.

There are a significant amount of people who are casual to non hockey fans that maybe see some highlights here or there, or maybe watched the Olympics when the Nhl was there, who are absolutely convinced that every single hockey player is Brad Marchand.
