2018 draft - How will it go?
Lots of mock drafts and ratings lists going around these days but the order of HOW THE DRAFT WILL ACTUALLY GO is foggy at best.
Wondering if people would like to input which team will take which player and even say why. Maybe you see a trade of picks going down? Maybe a pick gets dealt for a roster player?
Take your best shot.
1. BUF - Dahlin - no brainer
2. CAR - Zadina - I'm in the minority here but I think the chemistry with Necas tips them this way.
3. MTL - Svechnikov - Bonus if he drops here. Habs need goals.
4. OTT - Tkachuk - Ottawa needs some grit and attitude.
5. ARZ - Bouchard - I'm a bigger fan of Boqvist and Hughes but Bouchard is regarded as more ready and the Coyotes need that now.
6. DET - Wahlstrom - The Wings probably need a dman more but Wahlstrom is too good to pass up.
7. VAN - Boqvist - Heavy need for an offensive dman in Vancouver. This player is a gift.
8. CHI - Hughes - Keith is aging so the best skater in the draft fits as a replacement.
9. EDM (trades up with NYR) - Dobson - The Oilers need to get a dman if they use their 1st rounder this draft and Dobson at 9 is big.
10. NYR - Kotkaniemi - He might be BPA at this point but he'll at top 6 potential for the Rangers.
11. NYI - Smith - The Islanders could use some speed on the back end. Defence has always been lacking.
12. NYI - Veleno - Possible 2C after Barzal. This, assuming Tavares is gone.
In doing this, I realize this is maybe just another personal mock draft. Oh well.

I expect Chiarelli to trade out of the 1st round for a winger rather than trade up in the draft. Moving up just gives that man too much credit, IMO

Oops, no, that's a whoops by me. I had him in there and then made some changes. Let me re-adjust. There's no way he would get past EDM. I was trying to figure out how Smith made my top 10. I guess I know now.

Amen. And others also shouldn't assume that BT and MT are equivalent. They aren't. Just like this draft isn't the same as MT's draft.
I for one hope Ottawa goes BPA and highest ceiling. That's not BT....
If they draft BT, I'm convinced it's because they are thinking about the pick they have to give to Colorado next year...
