There's no way on earth I'm not keeping a 20 year old with Matthews' elite upside.

Matthews is also 5 years younger, and even though he missed some time this season, I see him being healthier than Scheifele due to their styles of play. Scheif has no problem getting filthy and banging bodies, because of this, he's more likely to miss time.

    2017-18:
    Matthews: 62gp/34g/29a/63pts (age 20)
    Scheifele: 60gp/23g/37a/60pts (age 25)

Yeah, I'm definitely keeping Matthews - it's scary to think he'd be the baby of the group too!
i said Schefiele as 4th but im with you here. Matthews maybe better answer.

You make some strong points fung. Damn, if this were my choice, I'd really struggle with that final pick. Maybe MacKinnon is the odd man out? He really broke out this year though...Brutal to have to make these decisions.

No matter how you look at this, he's going to lose some awesome players and that's too bad. I do agree with stevegamer when he mentions about trying to acquire someone like EKarlsson with a couple of the studs he plans on losing.

Nope, can't move MacK either lol. I mean, the OP has a great problem, right?!

    MacKinnon scored 97 points in 74 games! 97!! And he's only 22.
You are right, that this year was his breakout, but how about if Nate's finally arrived and is an 85-92+ player from here on out? Could you imagine giving that up?

McDavid is the obviously no-brainer here. Only player in the league right now who could flirt with 110 consistently. I think those days are over for Sid and Geno.
Kucherov is only 24 and should be an 85-100 point juggernaut for another 6-7 years.
Matthews has prime Malkin upside IMO - 82/45/50/95
... and MacKinnon just scored at a 107 point pace as a 22 year old.

This is all scary stuff. As much as I love Sheifele, or the prospect of cashing in chips for a stud D, if I'm the OP, I just go to war with with these 4 young monsters as my core and sleep well at night. Mathematically, I don't think there could possibly be a better core in their league.

Don't overthink it. If you don't keep Matthews, you'll regret it.
