Default Does Scott Darling emerge as a solid starter next year?

Hey guys i'd love your input with regards to scott darling. I can acquire him for a 3rd round pick which is the equivalent in my pool of a late 2nd in a real nhl draft. I'm looking for some goaltending depth. Does anyone believe he can become a solid starter after a disastrous 2017-18. I am thinking it's worth the gamble. Thoughts?

For a third rounder..yes. BUT does that mean somebody else gets punted? Does he replace a keeper spot?

I think it's worth a shot for a 3rd round pick. I personally don't think much about any Hurricanes goaltender, but sooner or later this team has to turn the corner don't they?

It's worth a try. It depends what you mean by solid starter - I think he can be in the 15-25 range in terms of goalies, but will probably not be someone you can throw out there every night with confidence. I can't really answer the question yet until we know who is backing him up, but regardless I think he will be better next year.

What is the size of your league and rosters? Also who else is on your team. It's impossible to draw conclusions without more info. In some situations this deal would make a lot of sense and in other situations it would be a terrible move.

I'm not a fan of Darling and if possible, I'd take my chance on that 3rd round pick. I'm probably dropping Ward in my league expansion draft but only because I've got Demko, who needs to be called up. Depending on your roster, what about looking at some other guys that may not be so well known right now but could be in a few years? That goalie Edmonton signed seems to have done really well in the K. Just a suggestion but like I said, I'm not a fan of Darling and have to think there are better options out there.
Points only keeper. 12 Teams. No pos requirements. 18 skaters / 3 goalies (2 count for points.) G/A = 1 point each (includes goalies) Goalies = 1.5 for W / 4.5 for SO. Minors - 4 year protection. Prospects added during their draft year only. Undrafted = waivers.

    Goalies: Gustavsson,Schmid,Vejmekla

I'd watch for the goalie carousel this summer, see if Dell or Grubaurer get traded and get shot somewhere

New management and a new coach could be what this team needs. Either way, the first couple of months will be trial and error for the new coach so it is a 'gamble' that may just be worth a 3rd rounder.

Who got taken around those picks last year? That will give us a better idea of pick value.

What are your roster rules, scoring system, & starting requirements?
