    Default Trading Claude Giroux

    Hey guys,

    I'm a rebuilding team. My last pawn to trade for assets is Claude Giroux. What would be a good return for him?

    This may be hard to answer without league details.. Also not knowing who has who, makes it tough.. I would trade him for McDavid but that's just me!!

    Here is our points system...
    Forwards:
    Games Played = 1 point
    Goals = 10 points
    Assists = 8 points
    Penalty Minutes = 1 point
    Power Play Goals = +5 points
    Short Handed Goals = +10 points
    Overtime Goals = +10 points
    Hat Tricks = +10 points
    Hits = +0.25 points
    Blocked Shots = +0.25 points

    Defence:
    Games Played = 1 point
    Goals = 15 points
    Assists = 8 points
    Penalty Minutes = 1 point
    Power Play Goals = +5 points
    Short Handed Goals = +10 points
    Overtime Goals = +10 points
    Hat Tricks = +10 points
    Hits = +0.5 points
    Blocked Shots = +0.5 points

    Enforcers/Utility:
    Games Played = 1 point
    Goals = 5 points
    Assists = 8 points
    Penalty Minutes = 2 points
    Power Play Goals = +5 points
    Short Handed Goals = +20 points
    Overtime Goals = +10 points
    Game Winning Goals = + 5 points
    Hat Tricks = +10 points
    Hits = +0.5 points
    Blocked Shots = +0.5 points

    Goalies:
    Games Played = 5 points
    Goals = 25 points
    Assists = 10 points
    Wins = 15 points
    Shutouts = 20 points
    Overtime Loss = 5 points
    Losses = 0 points
    Goals Against = -2 points
    Saves = 0.25

    There is a 30/15 rule as well, meaning you can only have 8 prospects per roster that have played a minimum of 30 games for players, 15 for goaltenders. My count is 7 (I'm a rebuilding team)

    Looking at your other post, I'd want to see your whole roster before I advise on trading Giroux. You seem to already be in a situation where you can't deal him for picks or prospects.

    You can't afford to get this trade wrong. You are right, he is your only big chip to play. Expect at least three young players with good upside back at the very least. If you get some offers let us know.

    I have received offers.. the latest was Jacob Chychrun and Jesper Bratt and Max Domi. In my opinion, Domi is a second liner, Bratt still need to convince me that he's a solid player and not a one hit wonder, and in my eyes.. as long as Ekman-Larsson is in Arizona.. Chychrun will be playing on the second pairing. I don't know guys.. what do you think?

    Absolutely not. Giroux is coming off a 100 point season. Someone needs to offer more than that.

    I've been pretty patient since I started. My idea was to probably deal him at our next trade deadline or draft in 2019 as a ploy to get another lottery pick..that would be a quarter of the deal.

    I'm hoping that's a 20+ team league, that's an ugly looking roster - I shudder to think what it looked like before the rebuild. In short there is no way I trade him right now, considering you are already up against it with prospect spots.

    Good luck.

    Ouch.. I would recommend targeting a young goalie like Demko..

    Its funny you say that Zorro! I was in pretty deep trade talks with the team that had Demko. The starting point where we were at was Demko, Makar for Giroux. I wanted to grab his 1st round pick for the up coming draft, he thought he was over paying... if I were to continue trade talks with him. What do you guys think would work for a deal between our rosters?

    heres his roster...

    Just received an offer,

    Claude Giroux
    For
    Jacob Chychrun
    3rd Overall (player I'd select is Zadina)

    I like the look of the deal because I LOVE me some Filip Zadina.. not sure it this seems lol sided though.. thoughts?
