Retro Hockey League - Adopt-an-NHL-team - H2H Pts DEEP Dynasty - Year 3 - Recruiting GMs

The RHL is recruiting for the 2018-19 season! We started this very deep H2H dynasy league 3 years ago using a unique format where approx 2/3 of our inaugural rosters was set using a typical inaugural draft, but then for the last third each team adopted a real-life NHL team name and filled out the rest of their rosters from players ONLY from that NHL team. Year #1 saw the Mighty Ducks take home the cup, and this year just saw the Vancouver Canucks topple the Toronto Maple Leafs in the finals!

SUMMARY/CONDENSED RULES
-18 Teams (although we may vote on expansion to 20 if recruitment is strong this year)

FEES/PRIZES
-$60 yearly fee/team--100% payout. Payments/payouts done through Fantrax Treasurer. Hybrid Prize Structure with both total Fantasy-Points and H2H Playoffs prizes, including a ?wildcard lottery prize? designed so that all teams can have something to play for right up to the end of the season.

ROSTER SIZE
-46 Total = 22-player active lineup (+4 ?Reserve/Bench?) + 20 player farm team (+5 IR).
-Keep 42 each year (so basically typical ?dynasty?), but instead of relying on the typical ?Keeper-Cuts/FA Draft?, we will use a ?FA Purge/FA Blind Bidding Periods? to re-distribute and re-adjust the salaries of the highest-rated out-of-contract players on each team. (See ?FA FRENZY? below).

REGULAR SEASON FORMAT
-Semi-weekly H2H matchups (Sun->Wed & Thurs->Sat). Each lineup period during the regular season works like a ?double header?, so each team is playing two games per period, for a total of 4 games a week. Approx. 72-82 game schedule for regular season.

FREE AGENCY SYSTEM
-Free Agent Acquisition Bidding. $100 Million FAAB / year. Winning bid becomes the player?s salary for the remainder of the season. Bids are blind and processed twice a week (Sun & Thurs). The FAAB gets reset just before the ?FA Frenzy? bidding periods.

SCORING
-H2H Points, weighted strongly towards Goals/Points, but also some defensive/corsi-type stats to round things out. A limited amount of unique PP,PK,Enf,Skt line-up spots are available which re-weight points (e.g., a player assigned as PK would receive less fantasy points for Goals/Assists, but receive a boost to defensive stats like blocks, takeaways, hits, etc.).

PLAYOFFS FORMAT
-Full 16-team, 4-round playoff format similar to the NHL.
-Playoffs run through approximately the final 6-? weeks of the season. (approx. starting~mid/late Feb). 4-round elimination brackets. Each round is a best of 5 series, with 3 lineup periods/games per week ([1]Sun->Tues, [2]Wed->Thurs, [3]Fri->Sat). It works out to approximately 1-⅔ weeks per round,

OFFSEASON/PRE-SEASON ?FA FRENZY?
-Basically 4 things happen during the offseason.
(1) AMATEUR DRAFT
Two rounds, includes ONLY the NHL draft class for that year. Picks #1,2,3 determined by lottery w similar odds to the NHL.
(2) FA PURGE
The FA Purge will force each team to lose 2 of their best ?out-of-contract? players each season. Player salaries for players NOT ON EXTENDED CONTRACTS (i.e., players whose multi-year contracts expire in the upcoming season, or whose contracts were simply the ?default? 1-yr contracts) will be regenerated by Fantrax based on stat projections and our leagues settings. The two players with the highest salaries will be ?purged? (removed) from each team and put into the FA Pool where everyone can bid on them during the FA Frenzy. The ?Purge List? will be calculated shortly after Fantrax publishes its player projections for the upcoming season (approx early Sept.).
(3) ?FA FRENZY? BIDDING PERIODS
The FA Frenzy periods are a series of FA Blind Bidding Periods with the minimum allowable bids decreasing each period. Consider for example a ?7-day FA Frenzy?. Bidding Period #1 (Sun) would have a min bid for any player of $6. Period #2 (Mon) would have a min bid of $5. Period #3 (Tues) a min bid of $4. Period #4 (Wed) $3, Period 5 (Thu) = $2, Periods #6 & #7 = $1. Teams are able to win a max of 5 FA bids over the entire FA Frenzy Periods.
(4) CONTRACTS
Near the beginning of each season GMs will be given a few weeks to assess their team and then apply extended ?Contracts? to a limited amount of their players. Contracts serve 2 basic functions 1) They protect players from next year?s ?FA Purge? (in this sense, they are similar to the traditional idea of ?Keepers?) and 2) They set the player?s salary for the duration of the contract. The catch is, 2-yr contracts add 10% to that player?s salary, 3-yr contracts add 20%, and 4-yr contracts (the maximum) add 30%. A limited amount of extended contracts are allowed each year. Contracts are managed only in the preseason & calculated on google spreadsheets (GMs only need to select contracts by selecting them in simple, pre-made pull-downs). After the GMs are given an opportunity to select their contracts, the Commish will transfer all the salary and contract information from the spreadsheet into Fantrax, and the spreadsheet will be ?locked? but still viewable by all owners for long-term contract reference.

Currently there are 3 teams that are definitely available (all of which have some of the highest odds--20%, 20% and 15%--for the draft lottery), and a few other teams have not confirmed for the next season, so there may be other teams becoming available soon.
