Parayko?

our league uses teh NHL draft lotto as a way to define our leagues first round pick order:

Last place - Buffalo
9th Place - Ottawa
8th Place - Arizona
7th Place- Montreal
6th Place - Detroit
5th Place - Vancouver
4th Place- Chicago

through a multitude of trades, i own the Buffalo, Montreal and Vancouver picks (as well as 10th OA)..so wherever they land after the lottery , that determines the draft position.

The Chicago pick owner (4th place finisher) is a Vancouver fan, so he wants teh Vancouver pick (prior to teh lottery). hes been pushing Parayko, and im not sold that he's any better than what i have now. so the potential deal is CP+Chi pick, for Vans pick, and i'd ultimately have to drop an additional body from my roster at keeper lock (i could send him a scrub but it still leaves me finding a body to drop at keeper lock)

anyway we got into a discussion about who he thinks CP is better than and he tells me Trouba, Klef, Chabot could easily be dropped and re-drafted (even went so far to say picked off teh FA pile later).

now i understand hes playin me here and im not about to drop any of those, but where does Parayko fit in my current stable of DMen?

Hamilton is the only one clearly above anyone there. After that, they're all pretty close in value. I would put Chabot at the bottom of a list just because he has yet to really prove himself. That being said, he looks great, and I would not move your pick and Chabot for Parayko and the Chicago pick.

I think the best thing you can do is get a pick upgrade elsewhere. Realistically, the odds are very similar of either Van or Chi moving up. So take the sure upgrade from a later round (maybe a 3rd/4th round or something).

I think Parayko, Trouba and Klefbom are very similar here.

Things to consider... where does Trouba end up... back in Winnipeg?

Does Klefbom and the Oiler PP improve again next year?

I think PArayko is almost the safest floor of these three with the current situation. but the other two have higher ceilings.

I would only make the trade for him if it makes absolute sense and the offer is not that sure.

Also all i have is 1st rounders this year so a pick upgrade in later rounds isn't an option..

Porayko is not an upgrade at this time. He could be down the road but it's to be determined and certainly not a guarantee. . I'd pass.

Can you upgrade a pick in a draft in a later year? I think you can looking at that list of 2019 picks. Try that.

thx all.. i passed on teh offer as i wasn't sold on CP being any better than what i have, plus it potentially causes me more grief finding another droppable player. IF things work out im targeting Dahlin, so i may not need another Dman right now anyway.

you should get one of Dahlin, Hughes or Boqvist with those picks. All I like their offensive upsides over Parayko
