I trade: Terravainen, Borgstrom, Tom Wilson and my 2019 1st (I'm a contender so it'll be 14-16 overall)

first off off in terms of whose getting the better players, it's obviously me, but I also take on cap. It should be noted our cap is rising in conjunction with the NHL cap, so it'll be 85 million.

the 3 players I give up are not studs but they are decent especially at there respective caphits.

What I assume is happening is the other GM realizes he can't keep his whole team, so he's looking to diversify for some lesser/cheaper talent.
Lee and Teuvo both need raises after next year, so that'll be a cap wash.

It looks like you should be okay to fit Stamkos in salary wise, even with Eichel's new contract.

What kind of settings does your league have regarding dropping players. Basically I'm wondering if you can just drop someone like Johnson if you get stuck, or if you would have to buy him out.

If he's coming to you, I would try jiggling the pick to see if you can knock it to a second round, or get maybe a 3rd/4th round pick back.

I get the cap aspect, but in a 16 team league with no buyout penalty etc, you have to get stamkos here. Do you think you'll ever be able to get him (or a comparable) for that type of price again? I would think not
