    Default Parise and Suter

Minnesota Wild have Parise and Suter signed for 6 more years at $7.54 million per.. Unreal!! Suter is 33 and Parise will be 34 this summer.. Parise has scored 53, 42, and 24 points respectively the past 3 seasons.. Suter has scored 51, 40, and 51 points in that same span, so not bad.. But how will these guys look in 3, 4, 5, or 6 years down the road??

Parise will retire before his contract is up, or end up on LTI. Not sure what the cap ramifications will be for the Wild though. Suter will play another 3-4 years at least - could play until 39. Let's see what happens during the next CBA negotiation and how / if contracts can be bought out, freed up, etc.

One thing is for sure - the Wild need a new coach and some retooling.

Parise should have been avoided for the last three years. He should be treated like the plague (fantasy wise) moving forward. His body is broken and its not going to heal with age.

Im fine owning suter for a few more years. I think you know what you're getting until he shows he's declining.

We all knew it'd get ugly at some point. They got AAV down by giving them way too much term. The plan was to have a Stanley Cup or two by this time but they didn't really utilize the time when both were still elite players.

Parise is pretty much done because his body doesn't hold up anymore. Suter is still a very good player and defensemen can play at high level for a long time - just look at Chara as the most recent example. Especially a guy like Suter who is so well-rounded you can put him in any role.

Suter is worth the money and has improved as he's gotten older if anything. He never gets hurt (barring a freak injury like his recent one) and his style should age very well. He could play into his forties like Chara. Parise sucks because he absolutely cannot stay healthy and has refused to change his style to suit his deteriorating body and age. He plays too big for his size like Letang. That kind of physical style never ages well, but he could still be effective if he got healthy and made some adjustments since he has a high hockey IQ. But I think he'll develop an allergy to his equipment sooner or later and the Wild will LTIR him.

yup.. Suter will have earned his contract.. Parise will end up like Pronger, paid until the end of time and never retire. There won't be any recapture penalties because of that. LTIR and the Parise will be off the books. The sooner the better for both his back and the Wild.
