    Default Juuso Valimaki

    Hey guys,

Through a couple trades and drops i have opened up 1 rookie spot. I noticed that Juuso Valamaki has been dropped by another team.

Havent heard much on this guys in a while. Whats your thoughts on his offensive upside now? Hes put up decent numbers in the WHL. 2018-2019 nhler or is he a couple seasons out still?

    Thanks!

yeah... I would think at least two seasons out, especially with Calgary's D corps. They don't rush prospects, so expect a minimum of one full AHL season.. likely two. Adding him only makes sense if you have a prospect pool 15 or larger in a 10+ team league. I would really like to see an AHL season before guessing at his future NHL production, I know there's measurement tools to give production expectations, but as a Dman, I think those tools are even more subjective. Rasmus Andersson is ready for a jump in the flames system and should become a 40+pt dman with 50pt upside

    Thanks for the info.

Do you think Sami Niku is a better add at this point or is he in a similar boat as Valimaki?

Niku might do better sooner. But I like Valimaki long term. He might not arrive for another year though as others have said. But I think I would still prefer to sit on Valimaki. Niku doesn't have the same all around potential. He's much more of an offensive specialist Dman. I get a Matt Carle Vibe. Mountour maybe similar progression?

I read that Val will be in the mold of a Giordano type guy where he can be used in all different types of situations. A potential heavy minutes guy with offensive prowess. Sounds good but they will have to clear some room on that blueline. But I really like this guy so I can wait.

Thanks for the replies. I also already have Adam Fox on my rookie roster and i like his offensive potential better then Valimaki.

Ended up picking up Niku, he may be playing tonight so ill be watching for him.

No distant relative here Feen, just a lazy play on words. Actually inspired by Sid the Kid when he was a rookie. Everyone calling him the next phenom.
