Time to cut ties with some prospects?

My 16 team league in signature I have dwindled my prospects down too: Colin White, Klim Kostin, CJ Smith, Andres Bjork, Taylor Raddysh, Zach Senyshyn, MacKenzie Blackwood, Laurent Brossoit, Casey DeSmith, Jon Gillies, Linus Soderstrom.

We can carry 15, my problem is I have a lottery pick (best odds at 1) and the following picks 9/13/19/25/29/33/39/41. I've put feelers out there to try to move up by packaging 9 & 13, no luck. I've put feelers out there to upgrade a player to acquire a player with picks 9/19/41, so a mid 1 early 2 and mid 3.

Cuts ties with a guy like Senyshyn? Try to sell some prospects?

By my count you have room for 4 prospects? And you have 8 picks?

I would try my best to move a couple prospects out. I am thinking you should try moving DeSmith after he played some with Pitts then the value might be there to trade him and a pick and another prospect for a player if you can.

I'd want to give Senyshyn more time... but is DeSmith even a prospect at 27? If you can't trade him, I'd be comfortable chopping him to make room. I'd also be very close to wanting to chop Brossoit as well. And depending on what you can draft... might be an easy choice to make room. I find in drafts, there's room to trade mid-late picks 2-1 to another team that all of a sudden wants extra picks.

You could always use the extra picks to trade up.

I'd probably drop most of your goalie prospects to be honest. Gillies and Soderstrom I'd keep but the rest are meh.

I'll add, that in a 15 prospect league - at the very most, I'd have 3 G prospects and they need to be legit studs - Demko, Samsonov level - otherwise, you're wasting space. I'd rather have Ian Mitchell (Chi) than DeSmith or Brossoit

I echo this advice.

IMO, worthwhile keepers are: Colin White, Klim Kostin, Taylor Raddysh

And they aren't irreplaceable, but the rest of your pool is replaceable, so I would try to make some trades. DeSmith might have some value.. Try and sneak up with some low key 2 for 1s with your draft picks.

Consider a trade like DeSmith and two picks to move up a round or two.

You have too many picks/prospects... so even if you have to do 3-1 if the increase value is there, you got to do it!

Rep incoming for all, I've looked at my goalie prospects being a huge eye sore. We can move Minors to Active roster freely so in a 16 team league DeSmith had some value this year.

and that's totally fine... there' also a strategy (which I used in the playoffs) to utilize one prospect spot, or even two in a 15 prospect slot league to rotate rookies in and out for the extra games played. I did this with Wagner & Pateryn... neither prospect keeper worthy, but definite value in peripherals for my matchups - esp. H & Blk
